First I couldn't click on anything once I opened the child's simology panel, I couldn't scroll down on it which was the first thing I noticed was broken, then I couldn't open her inventory, switch to build mode of even save the game. After a restart the same thing happened so I restarted again and didn't go near her simology panel. However, I then was unable to get an adult sim to cook a cake, no options came up after clicking 'cook'. I tried to leave the world and go back in but it didn't work, and then the screen went black although the time was still ticking on. Please fix this ASAP as it's not playable! I have never played with mods or CC.

After updating today, my sims tabs won’t open. I can’t access their skills, needs, job, etc… the calendar doesn’t want to open idea. Restarting and repairing the game were not effective
This is exactly what's happening to me too... I've tried to troubleshoot in so many ways. WTF EA?!
It's wild that people who do not use cc or mods have broken games from the update! It's one thing to have cc and mods installed (like I do) and experience issues, but it's ridiculous that people who don't use them at all are having major issues after the update. So far I've been fortunate and have not encountered any breaks in my game despite having cc/mods, but I suppose that luck could change at any moment...
I wasn't having any issues until just now. The needs panel goes away, I can't open the settings menu, everything freezes and I have to force close the game.
Similar thing is happening to me. I started my game after I did the update, I can't open build/buy mode. Nothing appears at the bottom, and if I try and close the game out after that, the entire thing freezes. I have to ctrl alt delete to get task manager up to close it. I tried to open the different panels at the bottom and nothing opened up then either. If I tried to edit my sim from in the game, the screen turned black and I could hear music, but nothing. Forcing me to open task manager to close it out. I tried to repair my game, it didn't do anything. I had taken all the mods out of my game, prior to doing the repair and it did not make a difference. This update absolutely wrecked my game, it is unplayable.
I am experiencing the same thing! I'll play for a few minutes, then it freezes, and then I have to force quit. I have uninstalled, deleted all mods, and repaired a few times. When will they fix this? So frustrating.

Exact same boat here, I removed my mods, only put in mods that have been updated already for the new patch, repaired the game, cleared localthumbcache, etc...Cannot play the game. I can open it, play for 30 seconds, and then their needs or anything in their menu will not pop up, I cannot bring up the save menu, or build/buy. I took all my mods out, repaired the game again, restarted the computer.....same exact problems. I really hjope they fix it soon because I was really looking forward to playing with the Lovestruck EP I preordered tomorrow.
I have the same issue, and also my sims are being mean to eachother almost every conversation and it’s making it hard to make friends because they’re just constantly insulting eachother. Apprently lots of people have this aswell.

I just wanted to report the status of my game. Since updating, I have not been able to play the game basically at all. I took out all mods, repaired the game after the update, cleared localthumbcache, etc., and I can open the game, get into my save file, and after about a minute of playing I cannot open my Sims' needs panel or anything, I cannot open build/buy mode, I cannot even open the menu to save.
I hope the game gets fixed soon...I preordered the Lovestruck EP and I was really looking forward to playing it tomorrow!
