My sim was working in the music career, during one of the times she went to work, the popup asking whether to perform an encore or not showed up. I picked the encore and she got promoted to jammer. As seen in the attachment, it says she is still at work despite being at home, I have attemped to alleviate the issue by pressing leave work early, which did nothing.

I got a event pop-up during his working time and succeed. He was promoted then and there. He was off to work yet...
He came home at previous career's end of the time.
The event I got was same as OP and the timing of getting too. He promoted to Jingle Jammer.
This happened about six months ago, so the details are vague, but after he got home, he autonomously put 'paint' in the queue and tried to draw a picture.
I don't remember if I continued playing after this, or if I went back to the previous save point and started over, but after looking through my saved data, it appears that for a while, his job was a musician, and he had progressed to the next career level, and from what I can see nothing else, it seems that this only happened with this promotion.
