[GTW] Excessive alien abductions

After I got the "Life and Death"-pack in december, alien abductions went through the roof. My adult sims are abducted at least once a week each, even if no one has even talked to an alien, and none are scientists. 

I frequent reddit and I have seen several others comment on the same issue at the Sims 4 subreddit, making it clear that this isn't only affecting my gameplay.

Playing with/without mods does not seem to affect frequency at all.

    Me too, I play with mods, but a history challenge. No scientist, no telescope, computer.... almost every second night. Once two women in one night.

  • Unfortunately, I use MCCC, so I suppose my save files would be useless. But I'm playing a legacy game that's over a year old, in its 17th generation, and since the 16th generation I have had 6 alien abductions after having none since the 3rd generation. First was on Jan. 9; I play almost daily.

     I run a small Sims group on Facebook (about 20 members, maybe 6 actively playing, but not daily). One has had 4 alien abductions that started before mine. One had one a week or so ago. Another had one today. I can't remember when we had any before this recent spurt.

    I'm going to guess that this came from something in the Dec. 3rd patch, because I don't have EPs or SPs installed more recent than Eco Lifestyle; that's one aspect of the legacy I'm playing (one EP or SP per generation). 

    Anyway. The whole thing makes us rant and rave and laugh, but I can well imagine it upsets a lot of other folks.

  • That is strange because in my game I have not seen any alien abductions for over a year. No mods installed to block alien abductions. I actually thought that is was tuned down like they did with vampires. (Wasted money)

    I've been having quite a few alien abductions happening in my game, too. I just thought because some of my sims are friends with some aliens in my game. Three of my male sims (one spellcaster, one vampire and one human) got abducted on the same night, two of them being abducted 25 sim seconds from each other and the other getting abducted a few sim hours later. I do use MCCC, but I have not made any changes to alien abductions in it.

    It's not much of a bothersome to me, I actually find this more hilarious than anything, but I know this will not settle well with other players that might find this extremely annoying.

  • There is clearly a frequent occurrence of alien abductions. I was playing with a household that had encountered aliens before, and in a single night, three Sims were abducted almost simultaneously. I had activated the "Prevent Abductions" action using the satellite dish, but it either wore off or had no effect. Such inhumane acts should be curbed.(This text was translated into English by ChatGPT.)

  • As a cc user and custom (for own use) cc creator I believe the reason why I don't have this issue is because of the objects I use on my lots.
    There is this Tag in the Tags section called "Func_SimRay_Transform_AlienVisitor_Allow" - most every EA object has this tag added which mean to allow aliens to visit. I assume that you guys are using lots of objects with this entry included.

    If you use cc and know how to use Sims4Studio you can look-up your cc for that Tag-entry.
    In my case, whenever I download cc or create some on my own, I always check each download for mistakes first like wrong tags and tunings, wrong mesh shadow lods, footprint, occluder andwhatnot, before I add stuff into my game. I ALWAYS check the Objects/Tags list in the warehouse section and if an objects has this tag entry Func_SimRay_Transform_AlienVisitor_Allow, I delete it. That is is only reason I can explain to myself why I'm not having lot of Alien abductions.

    I actually don't mind if my sim get abducted, I just don't like this entry in every single object which is why I delete it.
    I rarely use EA's stuff which may be another reason why I'm not so much affected by that.
    IMO, EA should not add that tag to most every game content.

  • I had only had 1 abduction since playing and that was years ago. Ever since the 11/7 patch, my sims started getting abducted frequently. I had a sim visiting another one of my played households and 2 of them were attempted abductions, I reset them. Then they took another when I wasn’t paying attention. I didn’t know npcs could get abducted. So I left and went back to my home lot. My sim was immediately under the light on the side walk. I reset him so he didn’t get taken and sent him to bed. He woke up 2 sim hrs later going back to the strange light. My sim didn’t even know any aliens, but I spent the next hour deleting every alien in the world. 
    I wish we could turn off aliens in the world unless you want that specific gameplay. My current save has like 6, and no one is in the science career. I delete them and the game spawns more.
