"Heir of Desire" curse returns after being removed

The Antique Jeweled Ring from the "Lost Legacies" event in The Sims 4 causes the "Heir of Desire" curse, which gives an uncomfortable moodlet. To remove it, I completed a full Fortune Aspiration and unlocked the "Disable Curse" option by clicking on the Sim. The curse appears to be removed, but it always comes back after travelling or changing outfits. It also returns even when the Sim is no longer wearing the ring.
