Holding dog/pet breaks the sim

This is new and must've been from the most recent update. Whenever my sim holds my dog (this might be the same with cats, but my sims don't have one) then they can't do any of the interactions with the animal and I have to do the debug cheat to set the animal down because cancelling the interaction doesn't even work.

I don't know if the screenshot is helpful because really the "evidence" is nothing moving after you click play. However, in the screenshot I have attempted to "Feel the love" with the dog, got stuck, cancelled the interaction, and even tried to prompt to put the dog down and the sim stayed stuck.

Additional information: This happened previously with another dog my sims owned (who recently died in the save) so this isn't just specific to this one dog/age. Additionally, this bug happens whenever you do any interaction where you have to pick the animal up, not just "Feel the love," because I tried to hug the dog, too, and got the same bug. For those curious, I don't have any mods and haven't had any mods or cc in the game (I got a new laptop, so mods haven't even touched the game.)
