inventory getting stuck

when in live mode, moving items from a fridge/storage box to a sims inventory causes the item stack to "stick" to the cursor and causing multiple UI issues. also, attempting to move items from sims inventory to a fridge/storage box causes items to freeze in inventory with a weird double shadow of the stack. both these issues together basically make using and moving inventory items impossible. i have removed mods, reset items and sims, tried coming in and out of build mode, and repairing my game and it appears the only way to remove the stuck items from the cursor is to completely restart the game, and even then it only lets me move 1 item or stack before getting stuck again.
