Irrational fear

My sim started with a crazy fear of the dark. Seems like something normal and simple but it’s out of control and it sounds more like a glitch or bug than anything else. 
out of the blue she’s afraid of the dark. 
she runs around screaming and scaring every single other sim in my game. 
fear be gone doesn’t work because the game isn’t recognizing she has a fear. It says that the sim needs a fear to drink the potion. 
I tried get her to be confident and then walk around… doesn’t work. 
and she shows up everywhere I go with any of my other sims in that same save. She screamed and screams and gets them ALL scared too. It’s been over 4 months of playing the game with this crazy sim screaming everywhere. 

please help. I don’t want to commit simocide
