I have been repeatedly trying to turn the lights on in my sim's house but nothing works. The house remains dark except for some lights that had already been turned on.

Lights don't turn on or off

i have the issue both in the original and copied (new) save. What I have noticed now after disabling/reenabling mods, removing and replacing the mods folder etc, is that lights turn on only when clicking on the "turn on lights for this room" button and not for "all lights" or "auto lights". Again, the problem remains only in the played household, which is on a lot placed in San Sequoia and not for other households in the same world.
Also what do you mean by renaming the user folder? The only thing I have renamed is the copied save so I could tell it apart from the original one.

Try the following
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Repair the game
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

I tried what you have mentioned above and it looks like the problem is fixed. What do you think is causing the issue? Also, what is the next step? Do I delete the new Sims 4 folder and rename the Sims 4_Old folder to Sims 4 again?

Hi mariaspan
You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.
First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.
Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.
You will need the following folders
- Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)- Custom Music (if you added any)
- Screenshots (if you've taken any)
- Videos (if you've taken any)
- ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
- Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.
All other files are recreated and not needed.

I tried what you mentioned above step-by-step, but when testing out the main save, I still get the same problem (no mods, tray or other files added to the new folder). I tried testing other saves and none of them have the problem. I also tried bulldozing the lot and building something simple to test it out, and I am still getting the same problem. Any other solutions?

Hi mariaspan
did you try the same lot in another save game ? Maybe it has something to do with that particular lot. Don't have time to test it out myself today.

I just tried it and lights work just fine. I moved the household to a different save and placed the same house and the problem was still there. However, I managed to place the original EA starter house and now the problem is solved. I will report back if I notice any issues.
