lot and room saves, timing out

when I am trying to save my lot and the rooms of my house, the text box pops up and says " connection timed out, check the connection or try again a minute" I have done both of these and had also left the game overnight to fix this, but still has not worked. my Wi-Fi connection is fine since everything else is working fine on my laptop, it is only the sims not working. I am trying to save my lot so I can transfer it to a bigger lot for my house.
