Hello again.
I wanted to share how I completely got rid of microstutters in my game, the little hiccups when moving the camera around lots or sims.
Important note first:
I’m running the game on highest settings and my PC can handle it. These tweaks force higher-quality LODs even at long distances, so only try this if your system is strong enough. After making these changes, camera movement feels noticeably smoother and more consistent.
What helped the most: disabling aggressive LOD scaling. The main idea is to stop the game from constantly swapping object/sim detail levels while you move the camera.
Changes inside GraphicsRules.sgr:
1) Object LOD (set to high quality)
Under option ObjectQuality
Change:
prop $ConfigGroup ObjectLODBias
Set $High to:
0.0
2) Sim LOD distances (force highest LOD even far away)
Under option SimQuality
Change:
prop $ConfigGroup RenderSimLODDistances
Set $VeryHigh to:
"29999.97, 29999.98, 29999.99, 30000"
3) Sim texture sizes (keep textures high-res)
Under option SimQuality
Change:
prop $ConfigGroup RenderSimTextureSizes
Set $VeryHigh to:
"2048, 2048, 2048, 2048"
Again, this is not a low-end fix. It trades performance headroom for stability by reducing constant LOD switching. For me, it was 100% worth it.
Hope this helps someone else who’s been struggling with microstutters.
