HI azd33
this was fixed a while ago so could you please verify your game version and that you are not using any mods/cc ?

Hi azd33
do you still having this happening without mods/cc on the newest game version ?

Both parent Sims in my new save keep adding "put down infant Sim" to their action queue autonomously. The infant Sim can be in the playmat or in the crib, perfectly fine, but their parent Sim picks them up, and puts them on the floor and then resumes the rest of their queue. If I cancel the action it reappears 2-3 times, but if I keep cancelling the action I can eventually get the parent Sim to not eject the infant Sim from their playmat or crib for no reason.

I just loaded the game up and both parent Sims kept taking my infant Sim with a red sleep bar out of her crib and putting her either back in the crib or on the floor next to the crib, despite both parent Sims having action queues to care for the other infant Sim and the dog Sim, instead both parent Sims kept picking up the sleeping infant and putting her back down. It was so frustrating I just quit. I even tried resetting the parent Sims and they just keep autonomously checking on and picking up the infant Sim(s).

this absolutely still happens like 100% of the time I'm on console and I have the complete updated version of the game no mods no CC all DLC except for a couple of kits that looked not so hot. but Sims will take the baby out of the crib they'll take the baby out of the little jungle gym mat they'll take them out of the high chair ages infant to toddler.

For what it's worth, in my experience (okay, yes, I have mods but tried infants first mod-free) there is a situation where if the infant's energy need goes into the red, the parents refuse to feed it and take it out of the crib and put it back in continuously in their desperation to "help." I had a situation last night where the infant's father wouldn't feed him because he kept trying to put him to bed instead. I queued up instances of "feed" until the father's queue was full and instead he picked up the infant and put him back down repeatedly. Okay, perhaps that was less than optimal ;) but I did it because my previous instructions to feed the infant were unsuccessful and I was frustrated. I was only able to get the parents to feed the infant by using UI cheats to take the infant's energy need from red to yellow.
My perception--as an end-user who does not write mods--is that the team took our old feedback that Sims did not care for newborns to heart and gave babies the ability to request help from the parent. BUT--again, my end-user perception--it seems to me that energy outweighs everything, including hunger.
I've been known to lock an infant in a room by themself so the parents would let them sleep! - Believe4life4 months agoSeasoned Rookie
I find the same thing happens (with or without mods) - I can't let the infants energy need get anywhere near the red - yellow is fine, red is a no no - energy in the red just overpowers all other attempts to take care of it. I began using UI cheats to cheat the energy need whenever it goes red back to yellow because there was no other way I could take care of the infant for hunger, or diaper changes. Once the energy need hit red, even if I needed to still feed the infant because energy was red the parent would just try take the infant to bed or put it on the floor, and not feed it at all.

I am having this issue as well.
In gameplay yesterday, the father Sim unprompted, interrupted one of his infant's sleep, took the infant out of the crib, and placed the had-been-sleeping infant on a playmat, and then walked away. The infant's sleep need was only half full.
The same father Sim interrupted the mother Sim having tummy time with the other infant Sim to then pick that infant Sim up, put that infant Sim in a crib, immediately take that same infant Sim out of the crib, and then walk back to the mother Sim and hand the infant Sim to the mother Sim. I did not command the father Sim at all and find this very frustrating as I was commanding the mother Sim and the father Sim unprompted ruined efforts to teach and care for the infant Sim.

Yes! I play on a ps5 with the updated version. I have to use the interaction “put down here” instead of the “put to sleep here” interaction. If I put the infant to sleep the sim always takes the infant out and puts it on the ground. I’ve found that if I just have them set the baby in the crib but don’t “put them to bed” or “kiss goodnight” ect they will leave it alone. Then I have the infant try to go to sleep. It’s really frustrating since I love family gameplay and it makes it so hard :(

111 upvotes as of right now - can this be upgraded yet from "awaiting additional reports"?
Edit to add: I'm just curious when things move along on these bugs and how many votes it takes to move a bug up because I've only become a poster recently due to the announcement that the game is going to take a break to improve playability and bugs. Most of the other bugs I've gone into have been changed to "under investigation" blue colour so was wondering.

I agree that there should be more clarity on the new categories. It's also frustrating as I have also had an easily replicable bug placed into the same "Awaiting Reports" category. It is frustrating to test and reports bugs to have them sit in limbo. And I would agree with you that over 100 reports seems like a decent number of people having the issues.

Yes! This happens with or without mods and it’s so frustrating.

Two ways the shoddy game mechanics frustrates us:
- Most of the time the other adults in the house ALSO want to Pick Up the infant, completely overriding your command. So if your active Sim just stands there after you've ordered them something, check the other adults in the house. Most of the time when you cancel the other adult's action, your command/task gets cancelled too. You have to re-assign the command/task.
- The infant themselves often calls for adults to pick them up. This ALSO overrides your command.
- Try to make the room where the infant resides particularly object-free because they like to "What's That?" and your adult will have to wait until the "What's That" timer runs out or you cancel the infant action.
Want to keep your sanity with infants? Either turn off Autonomy or Age them Up. Sigh.

This is still happening in my game:
It happens super often in my game that my parent Sim does something completely unrelated to an infant (cooking, working out, heck, even trying to woohoo) and then suddenly the "Put <infant name> down" appears in their queue in addition to what they are currently doing. They then interrupt whatever they do, walk to the crib, pick up the infant, and put it on the floor. There is no reason for this, they are not even near the infant, sometimes they are on a completely different floor or outside the house fishing, and yet suddenly the action pops up for them. And even if you click the action away it just shows back up in your queue.
I own all packs and play without any mods.
Here a screenshot of this happening after the patch:

Hi all,
Is this issue still occurring for you after update 1.120.140/ 2.26?
- arassivad7 days agoNew Spectator
I'm playing on PC with no mods and have always had this issue. Today I was playing a family with two infants and the mother kept taking one out of the crib and putting him on the ground while he was crying for a nap. His brother took an entire nap in their dad's arms while I was trying to get the mother to "give infant a nap" or put him in the crib. I couldn't get her to do either. This was after 4 hours in game time trying to get one of them fed (everyone just kept picking him up and putting him down so I had to cheat needs). I rage quit at that point.
For the longest time, I just avoided playing with infants. Next time I log in, they're both being aged up instantly.
