A few minutes into playing after updating, my sim gets a call from her cousin to say that the cousin is now in a relationship with her own brother. I went into the other family to check and sure enough they have a romance bar, and are tagged siblings, sweethearts, and partners. This is NOT okay.

My Fiancé, keeps becoming my Sister when I enter CAS. I tried reloading an old save and marrying her before changing her and that didn’t work. I tried moving her to a different household and changing her outfits in a different household, and that didn’t work either. You can see in the relationship profile that we are engaged and siblings. I can’t flirt or have any romantic interactions with her. I didn’t have mods installed when this issue first occurred, I downloaded MCC command center to try and remove the relationship bit and that didn’t work. Please fix, it is making the game unplayable as Jess Sigworth in particular has no party outfit for me, she’s in just her underwear and has makeup and shoes on.
We’re getting more upvotes on this thread and I’m happy to see that I’m not the one having this specific bug. Since the sims 4 is looking into bugs and reports that are specific “needs info” im reposting my original report I made that was just put into another forum post and never got any response or feedback for.
So I play on Xbox series S, I have all the packs and kits for the game and in my longest save file I have 3 spell-casters who are all romantic partners and for some reason they have become sisters when their not even related by blood. I can’t do any romantic interactions with them only serenade and give massage and it has me very upset. I also have lovestruck so the romance bar right now is full but with that pack it’ll eventually dwindle down eventually and I won’t be able to do anything to restore their romantic relationships with each other. If there are any fixes for this it’ll really be appreciated. Btw I don’t play with mods at all so I can’t use MCC or anything else other than normal cheats for the game. I tried using the cheat: cas.fulleditmode to switch them back but it was unsuccessful. They even have a label in their sim profile that says they’re all sisters and that’s just incorrect. Please help ! This is my longest save file I’ve had since I started playing and I don’t wanna have to resort to drastic measures and mess up my family tree. For clarification, Hope Brignoni, Jacquelyn Black and Etta Bishop are in a polygamous relationship (even though there are none in the sims 4, but I was using my imagination) and they’re not supposed to be sisters, they’re supposed to be romantic partners. I attached photos of the labels, household relationships and the family tree and how they state their sisters. Mind you my sim Hope Brignoni is a descendant of the first ever sims I made of me and my husband. I’ve been playing this save game for 10+ years. I’m on generation 8. Please help !

When I logged into my save, my sims who were dating had been turned into brothers and nothing I did would fix it.I took out my cc/mods and tried to change it through CAS but they wouldn't change back. I tried to delete the relationship bit using MCCC but it wouldn't go away. What can I do other than deleting the sim?
I've yet to find a fix to this. For me, it is always caused by using the Adopt option that was added with GT. MCCC theoretically fixes it, but the game still thinks they are related.
The same thing happened to me. I could not fix it, even with MCCC. I ended the romantic relationship, deleted the sim, and married a new sim... Super annoying.
I know this is a known bug but i just encountered it and have to abandon a 4 generation save. My sim's wife has become her sister, I've taken out mods and updated mods and the problem persists. Tried fixing it with MCC, repaired my game, recovered an old version of the save and it just happened again as soon as I got into CAS. I've had multiple same-sex couples in this save and it never happened until the 9/18/25 update. Sad
This happens with any couple but after reading this, I’m relieved to know that the issue doesn’t happen to only big families but small ones as well. I have a 10 year save and so far the issue has only happened to them. They have 6 kids together and two of the older kids live outside the family in their own homes and have their own families. When this issue happens where I go in cas with my married sims and come out of it, the couple becomes related but not only that, one of the older kids living outside the house turns into a half sibling to the other kids. I’ve shared this issue on Twitter so many times in the past and present, even tweeted this exact thread to The Sims account and Sims Direct. This issue has been ongoing for me for yeeears. I know I’ve mentioned it before but it saddens me because I’m so attached to that save and it’s 4 generations deep. My couple also has parents. The husband has his elderly mother whilst his wife has her elderly mom, elderly dad and 3 other adult siblings, plus 3 half siblings who also have families of their own. This issue of broken relationships doesn’t just stop at couples. It breaks and disrupts pieces of the entire family tree. Here’s what happens in a big family. My sim’s wife become disconnected from her own adult siblings on the family tree. Her parents are no longer linked to her but somehow she’ll be shown related to her husband while he shows up as a brother to her brothers and sister on the family tree. Then her husband’s mom gets disconnected from him. Then of course, only one of my couple’s older kids will show up as a half sibling to their other 5 siblings. My couple can’t be romantic with each other either. I’ve had this issue for over 3 years and no matter if I go to a previous save that is 2 years old or 5, no matter if I place these sims in a new save, regardless of if they’re from the same save or from older saved copies from the gallery, they still break the same way…. And you know what else, bet you that if there is a fix, watch the sims team claim to have fixed the issue but there won’t be an actual fix for our current saves that are broken like this. Why you may ask… because they claimed to have fixed this very same issue before where families became related and my save was still broken after the alleged update. The fix for that was several years ago and I’ve been fighting with them to go back and redo it ever since.
My sim spouses suddenly couldn't do any romantic interactions despite a full romance bar. When I looked at their profile, it said they were both spouses and sisters. This happened after thg most recent (Sep. 18) update, but had previously never happened to me before.
