Performance micro-stutters after latest update (not smooth / not fluid)

Hi everyone,

Since the last update ("Performance updates and bug fixes!"), I’ve noticed that the game’s graphic performance has actually gotten worse. It no longer feels smooth or fluid — instead, it constantly runs with little micro-stutters. They’re not huge freezes, more like small hitching, but it makes the game feel off compared to before the patch.

I’ve tried everything I can think of: updated drivers, reinstalled them, tested with V-Sync on and off, repaired the game, fully reinstalled the game, even started a brand new save with zero mods (completely emptied the Sims 4 folder in Documents, including screenshots, etc). The issue is always the same.

Before this update, the game ran perfectly on my RTX 5070, and even back when I was using a 4060 it was smooth. Now, with the 5070, I’m seeing this constant stuttering despite the framerate being stable (around 80 fps). It’s not a low framerate issue, it’s just not smooth anymore.

Has anyone else experienced this since the update?

I tried with DX 9 and it worked. Please, The Sims 4 is an expensive franchise, objectively. Invest in good programmers and let them do their job properly. None of this makes any sense.

I have installed some new Windows 11 stuff and it threw my Nvidia GPU for a loop and erased my settings there so suddenly the screen was tearing and it was a mess. It's still not great, I'll try DX9 again to see if that helps. They're 'updating' and  'improving ' the game but yeah it seems like they're just making it worse. Just after B&H it was pretty okay, but now it's becoming more and more sluggish. I don't even have the new pack. Soon they'll probably remove the DX9 option and we will all be in trouble though.
