Similar issue, the mailperson has been stuck on my lot for two days staring and waving at the mailbox. They delivered mail fine the first time like normal, then it was the second or third day of mail delivery. They did the interaction with the mailbox and instead of moving on with their simlife they stayed complaining they couldn't reach it even though they successfully delivered mail. I even moved the mailbox to an empty section of my lot thinking it may have been nearby landscaping causing an issue. Mailperson just follows the mailbox around my lot to wherever I move it and the cycle continues.
I decided to invite the mailperson in and then immediately selected "Send Home" and that got rid of them.
