Repeat sim died/inventory pop up on game start

I've been playing with a sim family multiple generations in and now every time I start the game, I keep getting a pop up of two of the older generation sims dying and what I'd like to do with their inventory. This has happened for weeks now and it keeps making all my sims sad, even though both of those sims are actually not dead in-game.
