'Resume Play' makes the game close

The game loads in perfectly fine, and brings me to the homepage of my current household. I click "resume play", it loads for a bit and then closes the game entirely.

I played yesterday and had no issues, but tried to play three times and it would not let me. I restarted my laptop, to see if that was the issue, but it's definitely the game.

Please help. Sincerely, a desperate-to-play simmer.
