I've been having the same error since yesterday and I was about to give up when I saw this thread. Glad I'm not alone. Hope they will fix it soon.
I've tried some old advice I found in the forums: I uninstalled my antivirus program and I deleted tmp files but it didn't work. One thread also suggested that I made sure to check my security settings so that the game has permission to my documents folders, however, when I check those settings, there is no option for Sims or EA, so I'm not sure how to do that. :(
I'm on a MacBook and I have no mods.
I'm bouncing on the same problem. Got some things out of the game. Again let the files run. Removed the mod and the problem just kept on going. Now you can continue playing quietly, but instead of how you normally save, you have to save a new file every time instead of overwriting the save file. That does work. Hopefully they will get this problem out of the game soon
