The only usb thing I had was a wireless mouse that came with the laptop so I removed that, did an optional update "Insyde" something and played for five minutes with no mouse in windowed mode and Dx9. No crashes. Here's the latest dxdiag.

  • AnazuraTS4  Please try playing in windowed mode.  If that doesn't help, switch to DirectX 9 mode, just as an experiment.  Both are options on the graphics settings page.

Separately, your dxdiag shows that your computer's USB-C driver is crashing.  So please unplug any devices that use a USB-C connection, at least while testing the game.

Hi, yes it crashes when that is deselected. A completely new folder obviously gives you the default settings for everything but, prior to coming on here and doing this little experiment, i’d experienced the crashing after doing screenshots on an established save with my preferred settings.

  • AnazuraTS4  Do you get this pop-up when taking a screenshot in normal mode?

If so, can you click "Don't show this dialog again" and try again?  Taking screenshots with tab or shift-tab isn't an issue for me on my Mac, but I haven't tested in Windows yet.

I moved my sims 4 folder to the desktop and let the game generate a brand new one. Created a new sim and put them in Innisgreen and then had them interact with a sim while i took screenshots in tab mode, and in less than a minute or so it crashed and white-screened. See attachment for dxdiag like you asked.

Oh and it doesn't have to be in tab mode for it to crash. It freezes my laptop completely, I am however able to press windows key and shut the laptop down.

I will also add for transparency that I checked for a driver update just then and there was one from two weeks ago, I installed it and the white screen crash still occurred.

  • Dinky21b AnazuraTS4  Please remove your Mods folder and test again.  You don't need to save your progress.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see whether you can take a screenshot.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

This is happening to me too. Fresh save, updated fully and repaired, no mods whatsoever. Prior to the crash I pressed "tab" and then "c" to take a screenshot without the UI showing and then it crashed. This has happened a few times since the update today. I have all packs but some kits.
