Screenshot/Photos causes game crash/freeze

I have recently been having trouble with my Sims 4 game freezing or crashing while taking photos in-game. When taking multiple screenshots, I've experienced the game freezing and needing to restart my laptop and losing progress. Today, my sim was painting from reference and after pressing the button to take the photo, my game crashed and I lost my progress. I'm finding this very frustrating as if I don't remember to save before that point, I lose progress. Even when I do remember to save and don't lose any progress, it's still annoying to need to reopen the game every time. I use CC and MC command center, and I play directly on the EA app. 

Every time I take a screenshot, my game freezes.

When I take a screenshot in the Sims 4 using the C key on the keyboard my game freezes and I can't click on anything. And when it freezes I can't leave the game, I press the alt+f4 command and it does nothing, I try to launch Task Manager, but when I do that the game just white screens, and the only option to leave the game is to restart my computer. And the screenshot does not save in the screenshots folder. Turned on HDR in Windows is a known cause with freezing just after taking a screenshot. I tried to turn off HDR, but my computer does not have HDR. I updated my graphics drivers and changed a few graphics settings in The Sims 4, but it is still freezing after taking a screenshot. Does someone know about this problem? Could it be hardware related? Please if you can, help me. I like playing The Sims 4 and I need to take screenshots, but it is freezing and screenshots are not being saved in the screenshots folder.

I have experienced something similar. On PC, only once did it result in a full crash, the other times Sims 4 becomes non-responsive when pressing C to take a screenshot.

I have observed the issue using the C for screenshots in both Cas and Build/Buy Mode. The only way to recover from the freeze or hangup is to force the game to close. It can be reproduced, but it is intermittent with no clear pattern outside of the fact that it is triggered with the C key. This issue happens with and without mods, with a cleaned/fresh Sims 4 folder, a clean install, and a repair. It will happen regardless of whether you are in Fullscreen, Windowed, or Windows Fullscreen mode.  GPU and Windows are both fully updated. I don't use any overlays. I do have all of the packs installed. The Screenshot Pop-Up Is turned off.  It also happens on new saves.

I can confirm that the issue seems to go away when switching from Direct X 11 to Direct X 9.

Thank you for your post! Yes, I am having this same issue. When my sim takes a picture with another sim my game crashes. I haven't tried having my sim take any other type of pictures (selfies, or photos of others) because I am scared my game will crash again. I hope this issue gets fixed ASAP. I also use CC and McCommand center. All my mods are up to date.

To all the people upvoting, can you also send a save to the team? I would love to see this problem solved/investigated :) 

Same here. Ir crashes after 1 or 2 minutes capturing images.

I sent it back in July, when this problem surfaced after updating to patch 1.117, but what's the point?

I'm currently playing on DX9, and the C button works there.

Hello, I've been experiencing this issue for a long time now. When I try to take selfies with my Sims, the game freezes, and I have to restart my entire computer. I took out the mods, and it still does this, so it's not the mods, it's the game. Has anyone else experienced this? And when can it be fixed? I'd like to have family photos in my Sims household.
