Every time my sims sit down at the computer to adopt a pet, cat or dog, they pop up from the chair and the computer they were using remains lit up as if its still being used but the adopt action is gone from their queue. I have tried with mods on and off, checked that all mods are up to date, etc. I have also switched out the desk, chair, and computer being used and it happens every time.

Try the following
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Repair the game
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
