Sims and pets turn into voids console no mods

this has happened for a very long time to me. My Sims and pets will essentially lose their skin and fur and just be black voids. it happens randomly. I've never actively seen one just change on screen it's usually if they are out of view and I snap back to them. it could have something to do with switching between build and buy. it stops if I restart my game entirely but I would still consider this not solved just because it in itself is a glitch that needs to be fixed and I feel bugs shouldn't be considered solved by restarting the game because there are so many bugs now that I have to restart my game as its almost unplayable. I own all DLC save for a few unsavory kits. (please do not merge this with the solved PC mod thread for a third time. consoles do not have mods.)
