Sims obsessively use objects

I looked through the compiled list of bugs and didnt see this on there, so if i missed it and it's on there, oops! Anyway, I'm so tired of having to delete every single computer in the house simply because it's allll my sims want to do. It's the same issue with having a bar on the lot. I know that was "fixed" in an update a while ago at this point but it's STILL an issue for me, it never stopped being an issue. My main issue is the computers, but the bars is also still an issue, my sims make themselves alcoholics.

Excessive use objects currently tracked in this thread

  • Computer (general)
  • Bar
  • Dance
  • Listen To Music
  • Destroy Doll House
  • Play Woohoo Thumbs Up! Game
  • Radios
  • Cross Stitch
  • Spaceship
  • Teapot
  • Yoga Mat
  • Meditation Stool
  • Coffee Machine

  • [SV] Conspiracy stall

Please also just don't put anything in here. This is about object usage. A lot of issues have their own threads already.

Would be better if you actually upvoted these like the water/juice/coffee/Tea drinking here: Excessive Drinking (Water, Juice, coffee, tea, ..) (Patch 1.58.63) | EA Forums - 4966133

Please check the compiled list as I really don't have the time to list them all currently

Have you made sure that you don't have any Neighborhood Action Plans (NAPs) active in any neighbourhood? Because moulding clay without owning clay is connected to the Promote Creative Arts NAP and using the Future Cube without owning a Future Cube is also connected to a NAP, I don't remember which one but I think it might be the Fun-Loving Community NAP. Anyway, if they own clay and Future Cubes, they're only supposed to use them often with the NAPs active, otherwise it's seen as obsessive behaviours, but if they don't own any clay and Future Cubes, it can only be done at all if a NAP is active. It shouldn't be possible for them to use them if they don't own them, unless a NAP is active, so if no NAPs are active and they don't own those objects, it's not by design, otherwise it's by design.

Of course! THis has been happening ever since Life&Death came along.

  • Shouldn't popcorn machine on the list? Or did that get a fix already? I haven't used the thing in years because I couldn't get them to leave it alone.

  • At least sims obsessively using the spaceship has a way to remedy it, you can stick a piece of fruit in an exhaust pipe with high enough mischief skill.

Which some sim in the household no doubt has since trolling the forums is another obsessive thing they keep doing.

Other than being obsessive with the computer, mixing drinks at a bar, dancing, listening to music, radios and destroying doll houses in the base game, I've also noticed that if a violin and/or guitar is placed in a residential lot, one or more Sims in the household would frequently play it... To the point where I sometimes need to manually stop the interaction. I play on the PC (Windows 10) and use both CC and mods.

  • another thing i’ve noticed, though i’m not sure it’s the right thread, is that every time i switch families, when i go back to play with a family that lives in a house with a pool and a chess table, i always find one of them in the pool (regardless of the season) and one of them playing chess. it’s like the game never has any other tasks for them, although the house is full of different activities

    Some observations from my game:

    1. Even if the stitching basket is placed on a table, the interaction to stitch still queues but will not get fulfilled. The sim does not wave his hands. The interaction queues then disappears.
    2. Dogs still obsessively use the woohoo bush, contrary to the 150 bugs post. As a result, the dog is almost always sprayed with a skunk and needs to be bathed. I had to remove the bush from the lot since it was very disruptive as my sim had nothing else to do but to bathe the poor dog.
    3. When there is a rocket in my residential lot, the sims preferred using that instead of the computer.

    Update:

    • I had another dog in a lot where there is a woohoo bush outside the lot. The dog uses it sometimes but not at the same frequency as the other dog. The dogs have different traits. Maybe it's one of the traits that's making the other dog overly prefer the interaction. I'll share my save file if the developers need it.
    • One of my sims will not stop drinking water. She queues up the 'drink water' interaction within a minute after the other. I only experienced this with one sim.

I have noticed some of these too and also with  the popcorn machine maker from Movie Hangout. I would have Sims invite their friends over or allow strangers who stop by to come in to visit and they head right for my sim's kitchen and start making popcorn with my machine. This even happened when I had invited Sims over for dinner, etc. and food was already served.
