Sims obsessively use objects

I looked through the compiled list of bugs and didnt see this on there, so if i missed it and it's on there, oops! Anyway, I'm so tired of having to delete every single computer in the house simply because it's allll my sims want to do. It's the same issue with having a bar on the lot. I know that was "fixed" in an update a while ago at this point but it's STILL an issue for me, it never stopped being an issue. My main issue is the computers, but the bars is also still an issue, my sims make themselves alcoholics.

Please also just don't put anything in here. This is about object usage. A lot of issues have their own threads already.

Would be better if you actually upvoted these like the water/juice/coffee/Tea drinking here: Excessive Drinking (Water, Juice, coffee, tea, ..) (Patch 1.58.63) | EA Forums - 4966133

Please check the compiled list as I really don't have the time to list them all currently

It's the other way around in my game. I always have to actively make them garden.

  • Sims have a serious addiction to computers... Also I notice that if there's a computer that's unlocked, NPCs are much more likely to come and use it than doing anything else. They won't talk to my sims or anything, just straight to the computer. Here Bob Pancakes is unconcernedly using my computer as my sims are running out as a fire has started during the welcome wagon. To be fair, I just started the save and didn't have time to lock the computer yet.

Yes! I started locking the computer for everyone but the household because of this too.

The dancing, my GOD the dancing. I had to delete all stereos from my one lot because my two adult sims wouldn’t stop. I felt like the preacher from Footloose. I want this household to have more children but this bug makes me not even want to play the game anymore.

  • Adding the observatory to the list. I simply cannot place this on any lot or sims autonomously use it excessively. This includes ones on pre-made lots. The only time I have seen one used somewhat correctly is during the GeekCon in San Muyshuno.

  • I can't believe books aren't on this list/being mentioned more in the thread. All my sims do is read, which I wouldn't mind if they were skill books, but it's usually children's books or fantasy. I've had to either delete all the bookshelves or use mods to ban them from reading.

  • I have 100% noticed some of these over the years (crosstitch, pressure cooker, computer, dance, destroy dollhouse...)

    I'd also add these ones

Doing sit-ups and push-ups when energized... my kingdom for that to be a fitness activity and not a random energized animation

Playing with clay and future cubes if they have one in their inventory

Knocking over trashcans when they are angry (and then on top of it the trashcan visually glitching out and looking like its still upright when its really knocked over)

Hopefully there's some autonomy tuning that can be done to fix this and make sims autonomy more interesting. Left to their own devices I'd love to see sims actively trying to complete their wants/resolve their fears/work on work tasks or skill gains and only reach for things like watching TV or dancing when their fun is low. A great example is if a sim has started writing a book, if they autonomously sit down at a computer and their fun is in the green I'd love to see them choose to resume writing their novel instead of randomly browsing the web.

  • My Sims are stuck in obsessive autonomous loops. The main issues are:

Constant smelling air, observing furniture, and judging clothes (Preferences).

Obsessive use of clay, drinking water, and using telescopes/microscopes.

Constant TV, radio, pc and phone use even when fun is high. Sims are obsessed with reading books constantly

Repetitive push-ups, stretching, and fireplace interaction.

Teachers constantly using the homework notebook.

Excessive use of research archive machine  and gardening.

  • Yes!

For me, it's computers, stereos, bars, though I agree with another user, the bar seems to become an obsession to certain Sims only and they'll go there whenever they're inspired, just making drinks and spending money, even when they're broke, on drinks that don't even get drank and spoil if I don't force them to drink what they made.

Clay gets around too. I don't mind it as much since it's practically a hack to ensure an inspired mood but it's funny how they practically fight over it.

And recently I also noticed that everyone suddenly wants to play violin. 😂  This gets annoying because they never sound good and make others miserable.

As info, I have other activities available in the house like an easel or a game table but they're gathering cobwebs while other items get abused.

It would be cool if there was a cool down to autonomy that chooses which object to pick.
