Terrain paint disappears after leaving lot

When loading back into a save ALL of the terrain paint disappears. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix it, it's been happening for YEARS. Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted Title fit bug report at AHQ

I'm so tired of this bug not being fixed yet. I put my soul into the most beautiful building I've ever made, then I accidentally clicked on some shortcut which sent me to mange worlds. Then boom all terrin paint gone. I tried desperately to fix it with everything I could think of. Clicked on the gallery and boom the game crashed because apparently that's too much to ask for even though I have a strong PC. This bug has been known for years and nothing is happening? Not even an attempt to fix it? I do have CAS CC and one mod installed.
