Needs Info

Thumbnails regenerate with every session

Every time I save and close the game, then restart the game, the thumbnails for the outfits always have to reload.  They never save, which just make the localthumbcache.pkg file just grow larger and larger.

Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted Title fit migrated bug report: [NEED SAVES] Thumbnails regenerate every session/localthumbcache file max size | EA Forums - 11706338

Generally bugs still open in the archive do not need to be re-reported unless you have new info.

Shared here (I hope, if not let me know, and I'll try again)

Just load the save, go to change clothes watch the thumbnails load.  Exit and Save.  Reload the game, and load the save.  Go to change clothes and watch them reload again.  It does the same in CAS with the individual thumbnails on the side of the Household Portrait panel.  Each time makes the localthumbcache.pkg file get bigger.

EDIT by crinrict: No changes, just made sure link works as link

It's best if you follow instructions in the thread and DM links to a CM.

I've forwarded this one now bug going forward :D

LOL well, I thought about that, but figured no one really wanted a DM popping up.🤣

For some time now, more precisely after an update in December, my game hasn't been keeping the cache (localthumbcache) properly. Every time I start the game, I have to reload all the outfits and thumbnails in the social panel. This is terrible because the game loses FPS during this loading process, and the whole point of the cache is to prevent having to reload everything all the time. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

The cache (localthumbcache) is not necessarily being removed. The file remains and increases in size over time after closing the game. However, it seems that certain aspects of the gameplay are not being saved, such as the Sims' sets (outfits, makeup, hair, etc.) and thumbnails. Before, when opening the Change Outfit menu to select the Sims' clothing, the cache would instantly increase in the game's folder. Now, that no longer happens.

I tested it in various ways—without mods in a new save, with mods in old saves—and the same thing happens every time. The localthumbcache is there, but certain information is lost.

I believe the only thing that’s a bit out of the ordinary is that my OS is installed on Drive C (system drive), while everything related to the game is on Drive E (my fastest drive).

This happens with no mods, no expansions—just the base game.
