Unable to select traits in CAS

First Time - September 8th, 2025: This issue is happening to me as well. This is my first time reporting a bug (not to say I haven't encountered bugs before but my game is usually still playable, and bugs I usually encounter are minor and fixed quickly but this one makes it hard for me to even play the game). I believe I'm playing on a Windows 11 PC. I have had mods in the past, like years ago, but have no mods installed now. I deleted mods and stopped using them three years ago or more. I do own add-ons. I am repairing the game right now. I have 42 add-ons, which include:

How did I encounter this? Upon launching The Sims 4 I clicked "New Game". Immediately after C.A.S. opened I went to my library to upload a Sim I've already created before and saved to my library, I clicked on a Sim from my library and had it replace the Sim that was in C.A.S. upon opening it up. Then I noticed I could not select any traits because only the aspiration would popup. 

Second Time - September 18th, 2025: Last time I had the game repair and everything worked again. The only difference today is I now have The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Pack. I bought it on the 12th and just opened the game to begin playing the pack for the first time, only to discover the C.A.S. trait disappeared again.

I had this issue after the August update but I didnt think to report it and its still happening 

Platform: PC (Windows) Game Version: Latest patch as of September 2025. All expansion/game/stuff packs installed. Mods/CC: Yes – occurs even after removing Mods folder and clearing cache. All trait and aspiration icons display normally and can be selected. All trait and aspiration slots show only question-mark icons. Traits cannot be chosen.

When I enter into CAS from the main menu I am unable to select any traits. The space is there but it is blank and you can't choose. The randomize button still works and traits show up once in active gameplay but when creating a new sim you can't choose. 

More info: Can shift-click sim and go back into CAS during active gameplay, and pick traits. No mods currently in folder. 

so since the update i haven’t be able to see my traits in CAS. i thought it was my mods so i updated them and it still wasn’t showing. so i took all my mods out and deleted the cache files and i still cant see my traits. i dont know if this is a issue with just my game or others have this problem but i cant save my sims unless i randomize their traits. 

I'm well aware this is a bug, but I have no mods, no cc, reinstalled the game completely, but idk how to fix it... any help?

Hi, so I've gone into create a sim, created a whole household, and tried saving, only to realize I haven't filled out the traits. But when I try to do so, There are no traits icons to select, of drop-down menus for them, just nonexistent. So I can't save without traits, but I can't have a chance at getting my traits back without saving and rebooting. And I'm unable to use screen capture to properly show this issue.

Also, is there a way to save without traits?

this is apparently still a problem 2 years later. I made sure my Mac pc was up to date, repaired the game from the ea app multiple times, tested to see if a specific mod was causing the issue, removed all my mods, deleted save files from the ea games-sims4- folder, deleted cache files, restarted my pc, uninstalled and reinstalled both the ea app and the sims4 game, created new game folders, and I didn't have this issue until the most recent sims4 update. which is funny how they fixed a bunch of bugs, but if they did I can't tell since I cannot get past the initial CAS. 

Creating a new family, and I am missing the traits? I have exited out of Sims and EA, cleared my cache and cookies and then restarted but came across same issue.  I dont use or have any CC or mods that were/are downloaded.
