I pull up the cheats console bar using ctrl-shift-c and it shows the cursor but I can't type anything. I made sure it's focused in the console bar, and made sure my keyboard works for other gaming aspects (ex. sim tab quick keys)

k3llyz Does your computer run Windows or macOS? Does it help to play in windowed mode? And if you're running any other apps alongside the game, especially something that comes with an overlay (e.g. Steam or Discord), does it help to disable the apps?
