"Unbreakable" Bathroom Items Break Often

My sim fully upgraded all upgradable items in his home, yet the toilet, shower, and bathroom sink continue to break every few days. I assume this is a bug, since the upgrades claim to make the items unbreakable. I have tested this with and without mods, and the mods don't appear to have an effect.

This report is similar to the one in this thread, but I don't know if it's related to a patch. I don't often remember to upgrade items, so I can't compare to before the patch.
