Wedding Would Not Work

I just tried to play with wedding stories for the first time in awhile, and it was a hot mess. When trying to create a customized wedding (from multiple menus like the calendar, phone, and interaction with fiancé), it would not let any sims be invited to the wedding. My sim has lots of friends, but none of them were an option to invite. I could not even hire a mixologist or caterer. So, I decided to do the old fashion way and just have a generic event wedding at the wedding venue in Tartosa. Upon arriving and sorting out the wedding, when the time came to complete the action at the wedding arch... I could not. It said my sim's fiancé was not around and that they needed to be invited there. I even got the couple to stand next to each other and tried to click it again. Still nothing. They ended up having to elope in the middle of the venue away from the arch due to nothing working.
