[XB/PS] Controls not responding

For people playing on a console there has been a bug in CAS for a long time where the buttons on the controller quit working. It’s a cas issue only and it’s extremely aggravating because there’s no way to save and the only option is to close out of the game and lose all progress. Would love to see this fixed at some point.

I’m having this problem, the controller just stops working, but not all the controls and this is in case, build mode and live mode. I can’t pause, walls stop going up and down. The only way to fix it is to start clicking on a mouse when that wakes up, do something with the mouse then you can go back to the controller. It’s constant though and super frustrating and I can’t play with a keyboard and mouse, I prefer a controller. Help please :)

Ive found if you are lucky enough to have a usb mouse hanging around, plug it into your ps5. Click a few times between controller and mouse. Has worked for me everytime so far

I have this exact issue as well right down to it happening in CAS every time I play. Was this ever resolved?

I believe it’s mainly CAS but  a handful of times has happened on build mode as well, though it’s muchhhhh less frequent.

I have tried a few other controllers, on PS5 and PS4 over the last couple years, but I can’t say if the bug is still present in CAS on PS4 as I’ve been using the PS5 for over a year, but the bug is definitely software based and not my controller.

ETA: a stumbled upon this bug again immediately after opening CAS for the first time. Turned off controller, couldn’t press “ok” on “Reconnect Controller” and has to force close. Last time this happened I had finished making my sim, I was lucky I had just opened it.

    Product: The Sims 4
    Platform: PlayStation 5
Which language are you playing the game in?: English
How often does the bug occur?: At least once in most play sessions, if not every time I enter CAS.
What is your current game version number?:  Most recent as of 4th March
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed?: Cottage Living, Island Living, Get Famous, Vampires, Parenthood, Laundry Day, Backyard Stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves?: Not sure, enter create-a-sim and try using both the cursor and the quick actions (pressing tab to remove the cursor and using the joysticks to navigate, triangle button to remove clothes, etc.) It also often takes a lot of clicks to register clicking on the head or hair, for example.
What happens when the bug occurs?: Buttons like X and O stop registering my input, meaning I can’t select categories or go back, and sometimes using the joysticks also becomes impossible to use. I can’t pause the game or anything during this time, so I just sort of button mashed until I was free.
What do you expect to see?: To be able to click on the icons.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods?: No, there are no Mods on console.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system?: This has been happening ever since I started playing the Sims 4 on console, several years ago.
Please describe the patch or change you made.:
