It would be nice if future Sim's game had a more indepth game experience
One of my main frustrations is that DLC such as EP's don't have an indepth game experience, it feels like diving of a diving board into a three foot deep pool.. For example, we have had several business packs that offer stores, however making a truley functional mall is not possible. If I made a mall many of the shops are just set dressing.. Wouldn't it be wonderful if an EP featuring shopping venues would have NPC's for stores as well as stands for a true mall experience. My wish list goes on and on.. I understand that a game that has to cater to many different play styles has a large job on their hands. The Sims, being in the life simulation genre, is like having 20 games in one, and that may be why there are so many glitches.. I think that it would be great if there was a future version of the Sims that offers sub-versions.. In other words, instead of having EP's, SPs, etc that cater to many different player prefrences to make a game with sub game versions. Each sub game would have it's own base game, and instead of incorporating many different gameplay style DLC, which is the standard, this alternative base game would concentrate on one type of game play.. For example, an animal lovers sub game version, and this sub game would have DLC dedicated to all things animals such as a pets pack, a farm pack, a zoo pack, stores for animal enthuists, maybe even a safari.. The same could be done for those players that like a realistic game or family players.. A more in depth experience, with less glitches, because less contradictory coding would be required, because there would be less DLC.. The core of the game would offer the same style of graphics, build tools and certain standard features accross the board, but that would be where the sameness stops and the unique player experience begins.. Maybe, this would help reduce glitches and player frustration, while giving players a more satifying experience.. I know this is much more indepth than your standard Sims game, and would require a larger investment in terms of time, maybe, more than one game engine and possibly more teams of creators to implement this type of project, so yes the intial investment would be larger.. Wether something like this would be even feasable or even possible, I don't know, however, the Sims itself was once imposible.. I noticed when playing of the grid that I kept getting notifications that I would get a water surplus and then would immediately loose it. It took sever IRL days to figure out that it was because my sprinklers were on. Which I didn’t know this so I’m going to explain how sprinklers work because they confused me until this. On: Sprinklers run all the time Off: Sprinklers only turn on once to water the plants Disabled: Sprinklers never run. I think three things need changed here. 1) We need it to be more clear how the sprinklers work 2) I wish we had a breakdown on our bills or something on where our resources are going. 3) I wish that sprinklers had upgrades (if you own Eco Lifestyle) like water recycler to make them more water efficient. First off the addition of a Dietary Panel under CAS. Dietary/Body Specifics: Move from Regular Traits to Dietary Traits: Vegetarian/Lactose Intolerant/etc. Add more Dietary Traits like Pescatarian, Carnivore, etc. Add Likes/Dislikes to Cuisine Types Add Favourite Food Likes/dislikes Coffee/Tea/Mixology Drinks/Nectar/etc. Make Utensil Preference Selected here (instead of selecting Sim but make it available to change at any time similar to likes/dislikes) Toggle Option to not gain weight from eating/food. Toggle Option to not gain muscle from working out. Toggle Sim will not autonomously do intense based working out like weights/do push ups/jog/etc. (but exclude light working out like swimming/yoga/etc.) Edit (Mar 19, 2026 Activity Panel): Activity Panel. I was also toying with the idea of Active Type(s), and possibly and activity panel. Where you can choose: how active your Sim is, and how your Sim is active. This can also help with activity autonomy, a Sim will prioritize their preference Level for autonomy, if those activities are not around they will do the levels below. But will not autonomously do activities above their preference. Lazy: Self explanatory. Low Impact Focused: Swimming, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving Low Impact and Strength Training Focused: Yoga, Free Weights, Kayaking Medium Impact and Strength Training Focused: Workout Machine, TV Workout, Cycling, Archery, Punching Bag, Pushups High Impact and Strength Training Focused: Rock Climbing, Spearfishing Specializing (optional). If you have a Sport Focused Sim they will autonomously do sports over working out and other fitness skills, if Strength Training Focused they will do muscle build activity over other working out and other fitness skills. Self Care Focused... etc. Self Care Focused: Wellness, Meditation (both Spa Day and EbN versions), making smoothies, eating healthy, etc. Sports Activity Focused: Archery, Basketball, Soccer, Football, Snowboarding, Skiing, Skating, Roller Skating Strength Training Focused (Muscle Building Focused): Workout Machine, Punching Bag (Commando Training) And in addition to the Identity Panel: Dominant/Submissive/Switch(both) for romance and pairing animation. Too often my submissive partner is taking the dominant position for IMHO in non-indicating dominant animation. Such as Flutter Kiss/Cocoon Hug (Critter Hunter trait), which I personally feel she should be able to do as the submissive position (as they are a bit girly girl interactions). But I understand some animations make sense such as Passionate Kiss where they dip their partner as the initiator (but less obvious romantic interactions, I'd like the non-dominant placement of hands/arms for her). I hope no one takes offence to this, but IMHO it is as identifying as gender, and sexual preference. And I often wish my main would be less of the initiator when doing interactions such as Flutter Kiss, or sleeping in her partner's arms instead of him in hers. This could also help for Waltzing/Dancing pairing. Dom/Sub for leading—so pairing is not by gender or random. Also, it might help if the dominant had more autonomy of being the romance initiator (if possible). This is something I brought up in the Discord but I thought I’d also post it here. Please note; This is copied from the feedback forum from the Discord. I have modified it slightly to fit better here, but is very much in that format. What isn’t working or feels frustrating? Herbalism ingredients (the bugs) can only be found in Granite falls (and you can’t live there or just travel so you have to take a vacation) Herbalism and apothecary skills cannot be used to get rid of the GTW illness. What new ideas or improvements would you suggest? Allow us to find the bugs and plants for herbalism in the wild (These are just two examples but,) like if you have EBN you can forage for herbalism ingredients at level two of the herbalism skill, or find them in the wild grass from Horse Ranch Allow us to make medicine with the herbalism and apothecary skills. Why would this improve your gameplay experience? I don’t think I need to explain why. But I’ll do it anyway, in song form! “Just think of what we could do, together! Unlimited. I for one would like to have something from the past brought back and & Improved. For this I am suggesting The Hair Salon & Head Spa. My I idea leans heavily in the head Spa Trend but I think there is a lot of room to work with here by combining them. Perhaps with this we could get an improvement to return to hair customization like they had in Sims 3. Without further ado... Update Sims 4 hair style to incorporate sections of the hair Root, Shaft, Ends and make the color be CUSTOMIZABLE like they did in Sims 3. The Hair Salon has different rooms. I have tried literally everything, complete wipe of buffs relationships resetting deleting re adding but every time my vampire sim bites someone they are shunned indefinitely by the other household sims for every single interaction following the bite. I have tried reading and reacting negatively to biting seems to be normal. I even tried turning off the royalty pack to avoid scandal creation and it still happens when they compell for a drink. We really need a option in game to turn off the negative reaction to catching vampire sims biting!! It's very disheartening that i cant have vampires in my active household because once they are caught biting my other sims just hate him and they never repair no matter what i try to do. This is more so a console thing as I assume there’s a mod out there for PC. However, in my personal opinion it would be nice for a cheat similar to “deactivate needs decay” but instead of deactivate it would delay decay rates. I build more than anything but when I do decide to play with a household I find it quite annoying how quickly needs go down as a whole. Considering how very simple and easy tasks take up so much time in a Sim day. I feel as if delayed rates would be the easier solution. No needs makes the gameplay boring (for myself at least) but ‘needs on’ makes it far too chaotic and very difficult to manage 2 careers, feed a couple dogs and manage their overall lifestyle. When the Macabre Sim auttonoumously talk to other sim regardless of having macabre trait or not, they get blue aura around them. I believe this is a bug because this aura thing is for Alien sim and not normal sim. This happens when the Macabre autonomously start "social_Macabre_SpreadtheGloom" interaction. Could you please stop adding blue aura around any sim because it is way annoying? For now I had to disable social_Macabre_SpreadtheGloom entirely with Tuner.
