About This OLD, OUTDATED Thread This thread tracks Sims 4 mods and CC that have been "broken" or made obsolete by game update 1.122, March 17, 2026, and the March 18 and March 23 hotfixes, or declared unsupported by their creators. Can't play my game because of infinite loading screen
I have been wanting to play my beloved game The Sims 4 but every time I try it gets stuck on an infinite loading screen that lasts for hours. I have made a brand new save file and a new Sims 4 folder, I have repaired the game multiple times, I have renamed my old folder so I don't get confused and I have no mods or cc. I have had this issue for days now and wondering why it's not been fixed yet. I have even tried searching for the problem in my bowser but nothing worked. I have tried getting in touch with the EA team about it but I just received a message saying that my issue is not covered by our advisors. I have attached a video of the issue that I am currently facing. I was happening in the old save as well as my new one.
Unable To Load Other Lots / Households
I have removed my mods but even then, I'll go to manage worlds and click on a household that isn't my last played household to play in. An error message will show up and tell me to reload the game. I do it 20 odd times and nothing happens. I waited for the new update, thinking it would fix the bug. It did not. I tried to access the household by switching in live mode but an error came up again, so my sim couldn't even visit that household's home lot and then suddenly, I was not playing in my last played household anymore. Whenever I tried to build, nothing would load, so I was stuck on the loading screen for an hour once. Only Create-A-Sim is working correctly. Otherwise, the game is pretty much unplayable. To make matters worse, every time I try to close the game, Steam says "stopping" but the game never actually closes. I have to turn off my laptop completely to force the game to close.
Endless loading to main menu
After the recent update, the game loads surprisingly fast for the first try. But when I enabled custom content in the settings and restarted the game, it now proceeds to load endlessly. Removed all the mods and still getting infinite loading time. Can I revert back to previous version before the June 30 update? Haven't played in almost a month because of this issue.
Specific save fails to load – PurchasePickerGroup value 16
Platform: PC Game version: 1.126.78.1020 One of my saves is no longer loading correctly in the current game version. I tested the game completely without Mods or CC. I removed the entire Mods folder and deleted localthumbcache.package. The LastException confirms: Modded: False The main error is: KeyError: PurchasePickerGroup does not have value 16 The error appears in: purchase_picker_service.py I tested other saves and they load normally. I also created a completely new save, and the new save works normally. I then tested an older version of the affected save from February 2026, and this older version also produces the same PurchasePickerGroup value 16 error. So far: Affected save: error occurs Older February version of the same save: same error Other saves: work normally Newly created save: works normally Mods/CC completely removed localthumbcache.package deleted Game reports Modded: False After the initial PurchasePickerGroup error, the LastException also generates several additional errors related to zone loading and business/retail. I have created 3 different household groups in my save file, but I am unable to enter 1 specific household. When I try to play this household, the loading time becomes indefinite and the game never actually loads into the household. The other two households load and can be played normally, so the issue only occurs with this particular household. Please investigate and fix this bug. These Sims are just sitting there aging up while I’m unable to play them!
Live Mode won’t load
since the 22.September Update, my main save file won’t let me play in Live Mode anymore. other / new save files work completely normal. but the main save file i’ve played the last 2 years on, gets stuck on the infinite loading screen. Build mode works, CAS works it’s just the live mode that won’t load. It’s not depending on a lot because any household i try to play with won’t load, no matter which world. I’ve already tried repairing the game twice, deactivating my mods. I tried putting the save files into a new folder, deleted the cache folder. tried loading older save files from before the update (recovered ones) Basically everything that’s suggested online. I’ve tried for hours now, is there any other way to use my save file again? any help would be appreciated :(
