Re: PVZ PS3 keeps freezing

Hi

My english is not perfect: I'm from Spain, and I just hope you understand me and I can make my point.

First of all, my connection is not the best, but I can play all the online games I want, like GTA, Call of Duty, and many more, without any issues, lag or low FPS.

I'm on a slim 200GB PS3, I have a wireless connection, the modem is about 10-15 centimeters from my PS3, and it freezes almost continuously when loading gardens & graveyards. This issue has been present since the beginning of the game, though, it was not every time. From some weeks till now, it's really hard to connect. Today it's been like 5 times trying to connect to g&g, and freezing. 5 times in a row. I hope you understand my frustration on this. I have realized that most of the times happens with the gardens and graveyards mode, and most of all, on the Dave mansion picture (which now I hate, as when I see it, it's like  'oh my god, please no, please no!'.

I only had a crash being ingame once, before christmas, but never more. It only happens trying to connect for the first time. If I play more matches in a row, it never freezes on loading.

I love the game, it's quite good and congratulate you for it, but, this makes my game experience annoying. I want to play, and I can't :,(

My PS3 user is Onyria, I have level 123 right now and the album complete (just to, maybe, give you some ideas on why this could be happening).

Thanks and, overall, good job Popcap

    Hi

I'm deeply sorry for the forum post nigromance, but as this keeps happening after a long time, and there were no answers at all, and just happens on Walnut hills, I just wanted to know if there's any planned update to fix this. Is there any? This morning happened to me 3 times in a row, and it's quite frustrating to turn off the ps3 from the console button each time.

Please Popcap, I love this game but everytime I join a game at wal nut hills I find myself praying to not get frozen.

    Thanks

Wired connection is always best, especially for a Multiplayer game such as Garden Warfare.  Lots of people have complained on Walnut hills and we keep trying to make it happen here, but have not had the crash, we are trying!

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it,
though, I play GTA Online, and Call Of Duty with a wireless connection and this never happens on those games.
Also, I don't play any garden ops anymore: at least, the only serious bug at G&G is that one (others are minor). But on special (Edit: garden ops) ops.... I always have to reset the PS3 from my system button, abandoning my friends, and having to excuse myself, while my PS3 makes more noise every day thanks to all the shut downs I've had to make.
I said to all my friends that I don't accept any special ops invitation because special ops is filled with bugs. I haven't completed any special ops in about 3 months, because sometimes it gets frozen, sometimes the server rejects me (the EA servers: I keep connected to PSOnline at every moment, and if I check my ping and my FPS, they 're perfect)
I'm eager to see any update on this. I still love this game, but I keep seeing updates for PVZ2 on ipad, while this game seems forgotten: I have 1.600.000 credits and dunno where to expend it! DLCs? new envelopes? new maps? at least, new snack-based chompers or scientists? nothing!
It's sad: because I see many people playing this game, there's always a g&g to join, or to switch. But no updates at all.
As I say, I love this game, I'd rather buy any DLC or expansion you make, but after more than 1 year, this is quite disappointing for a PVZ game, in terms of content.

Are you saying the friends are in the same game as you, and they're not experiencing the same issue?

Yes, on Garden Ops, and many times on G&G.
Though, it's been months since I don't complete a garden ops, and not because we die or anything: because it throws me away from the server, and yes, it throws me out from the game and my friends stay at the same session sometimes: some other days, like today, it throws away 2 or 3 persons, staying maybe 1 person at the session (the host maybe, if there is?).
As I also say, this doesnt happen with the rest of online games I play at the same console.
Also, today the Walnut hill bug at G&G happened to me 3 times in a row, and I just desisted.
Could you place a token at my user id to check error logs or else?? It's just incredible that your QAs are not being able to reproduce the bug, when it happens to me almost every day I play:

As a user, I just want to be able to join a G&G session on Walnut Hills, without having to reset my PS3 from the system button when it gets frozen on the loading window.
    - My client is installed at the console, I downloaded it from the PSStore.
    - My level is 149 and I have 1.800.000 credits to spend.
    - My PS3 is a slim 200GB version, from 2 years ago + or -.
    - I play with headset, 'Tritton' brand.
-The bug only happens on joining a G&G session: if Walnut Hills comes later on the session, it loads perfectly.
-You can guess the bug happened when the loading white flower icon stops moving.

    Thanks

Of course, when it's 'on joining' a G&G, I'm not at the same session, but sometimes I'm with them at any game, then the people starts leaving the session for any reason, maybe at a moment we're just 2 vs 2, and we decide to try to join another game: I tell them to join me when I reach any, and then the bug is there: my friends see me disconnecting as I can't do anything else but shutting down the system, and later they tell me that I leave without waving bye or else. They leave too, and the game is over because of this.... magnificent bug. This has happened to me many times.

Ok, let's suppose I re install the client:

will I lose my XP level?

  • If just you is being removed or everyone but the host, it sounds like connection problems. Might want to yours/their NAT settings and what not, although that would not be related to the freezing.

All progression is server side, so you could even take your account to another PS3 and have all your customizations, characters, coins, etc.

If you're able to get the Wallnut Hills crash multiple times in a row, you're probably trying to join the same server again and again. Try another mode for 15-20 minutes then go back to it.

I reinstalled the client, and the problem is still there.

However, Overclockd, I repeat it: the walnut Hills bug is not happening when I'm already in any session: if Walnut Hills comes before I join another G&G map, this NEVER happens: the load is fine and I can play the map always. It's just when I want to join, without having played any previous session. And it makes me have to turn off the whole system, without having played a single second.

This bug happens 90% of the times I join walnut hills, and as there are 4 maps, it's 22'5% times I want to play this mode. And normally, it's the best mode: Suburbination, Gnome bomb etc are always empty.

At this moment, I just ask for a 'Cancel Button' on map loading, because today I tried three times, at different hours (so, not joining the same session), and happened again. And, be sure, I will ALWAYS hit that Cancel button on Walnut Hills. By the way, it's even the worst map on G&G: quite hard to defend by the plants, too easy for the zombies.

And, on the Garden Ops issue, I simply don't play them anymore.

On the other side, the Mega-Flower Map design is awesome. And the bug never happens on that one, neither on the Golf Field or the Cucumber rocket (I'm sorry I don't know the exact names: my client is in spanish).

Honestly, I don't think it's connection issues, I think it's just that this game is another game meant for the newer generation of consoles. I go through the same freezing when trying to Load G&G, But it only happens like 1/3 games except for every game like yours does. The game has lots of issues with it already even when you do get into a game; examples being falling through the ground, getting shot by invisible players, and having to have the terrain around you load by standing still for a couple of seconds. This all can easily be put in sync by dying once or twice, But I still find this unnecessary to do just to play a game enjoyably. Another huge issue with playing G&G is that the frame issues are insane at some points of game play. Most of the time when you spawn you are running at around 30-35 FPS, but when you get on the capture point My PS3 turns into a Microsoft power point presentation, In other words around 12-18 FPS. It makes the game almost unplayable and honestly, I don't want to sound like negative Nancy here. But I think EA + Popcap made a big misleading gimmic on selling this on Xbox 360 + PS3, It's kind of ridiculous. Now, I'm not shaming on the developers here, just there decisions. I know there is other game modes that are playable, still running at around 25-30 fps, but in the secondary game modes you only receive 2000-2500 coins per game! Compared to 10,000 - 15,000 in G&G! That's a HUGE Letdown too. Overall, Game is awesome, just not on PS3 / XBOX 360. R.I.P Dave's Mansion

  • this game is the crappiest game i ever had. It crashes my ps3 all the time and i am connected wired. All the games are alright except for this one. I want a refund. I should have bought a physical disc so I can trade it in for a better game. This issue was never solved and now its worst in Ps4.

  • Quick question. It's been two years and I'm having the same problem on the same map. Are you sure you fixed it?
