Unexpected game logic

This is an attempt to compile a list of unexpected behavior in the game that goes against the design.

1. Imitator does not correctly copy the stats of the Reincarnation Card. Instead it will copy the base stats of the card.

If you play a peashooter that came from Reincarnation and now has the stats 2/2 on a board with an Imitator already in place the Imitator will become a peashooter with the stats 1/1

  • In most circumstances, situations where players don't get the results they were expecting comes down to them inferring meaning that doesn't exist within the wording of the cards effect. They're simply assuming a trait that isn't there.
But you're right, the wording says "transform into a copy of *that plant*," not "that plant type." It should transfer stats.
Out of curiosity, have you tried with potted powerhouse?

I'll pass this off to our community manager to give to the absent members of the Dev team. Likely, nothing will happen, sadly; but they could either a) fix the effect it b) reword the description.

First attempt with Captain C I got Potted Powerhouse to a meaty 24/24 and could not pull an Imitator. Second attempt PP got to 16/16 and again no Imitator in sight (I have 4!). Third times was a charm and when I dropped my Imitator and then my very impressive 12/12 PP I got a very disappointing 3/3 PP to accompany him.

So I guess it works as intended but the intention is misguided imho. It should be a copy of what you play hence the name and everything about it.
  • It is working as intended from what the CM just told me, but he does admit that the wording is poor.
Hopefully he passes it along so that it can be corrected. Good information to know, though.
  • This one bugs me:

You Shrink Ray a Poison Mushroom. Attack goes to 0. You play in front of the Poison Mushroom. The plant player removes your Zombie.

What should the power of Poison Mushroom be? I think 0, as though the Zombie has never been played. But *I guess* because attack can’t go negative, it becomes 2 (Anti-Hero). Is this intentional or a glitch? If we reason its base attack can’t go negative, maybe it should have always been 2 (when unopposed) and never have dropped to zero in the first place. If we reason it can, Banana Peel shouldn’t suddenly become a buff trick. Right??

    Makes 0 sense.

    (That’s my 2 sense.)

About Imitator: it does not seem to work at all with Magic Beanstalks, even though it does work w/i.e. Tater Toss. I don’t understand why one of these counts as a plant being played and the other does not (as Beanstalks are cards now?).

    I would welcome an explanation.

I had to try this one out and this is very surprising. What in the game meta is stopping Imitator from copying a magic beanstalk? That is clearly a bug.

It works with Typical Beanstalk. Not with Magical Beanstalk. That would still have to be a bug as Magical variant is still a plant and not a trick.
