I am trying to give the new update a chance, but I keep running to a wall. A wall of steam.
I primarily play Turf Takeover. The current strategy for zombies on defense is just to switch to Steampunk Scientist on the last object, fill the area with steam, warp out, repeat. No punches pulled, it's a terrible upgrade that should be heavily nerfed. Even with the reload glitch fixed, it's still no fun to play against.

Up until Christmas, I would've unhesitatingly said they need to fix the old before the new, but I don't think it's quite that straight-forward anymore.
This far on, as @stukapooka says, I think BFN needs both the old fixed & new content as things do feel stale.... but for me personally, new content (aside from Phase 3 Ops) doesn't have to equate to new maps. Or new characters. I would be happy with a regular cycle of mini-events, community challenge-style weekly events etc.
I love Ops but I've always spent the vast majority of my time in G & G & TT. It's what I've enjoyed most, despite being far from amazing in PvP!! PvP needs to feel good as well as improving Ops & making more of the PvE regions.
I can live a bit longer with unresolved issues as long as I feels there's progression, that more is being fixed each month than broken. The only new feature I would truly prize is cross-play because sad & pathetic as it may sound, if I decided to give up the game, it's all you guys & gals in the forum that I'll miss the most.
Will stick with things to see what comes in June, please forgive any moaning & long posts! 😂

Fix it first. We do need new content and the more content a game has the better, but before we get anything else added (barring a plant character to balance the teams better), we need to have the game running better, core functions fixed (hit registration, shooting and moving should be smooth and responsive, etc.), balance dialed in as close to nominal as possible for all classes/builds along both sides, and something to spend all these coins we are hoarding on!
Edit: like many here, I love PvZ and want this game to be successful as the only other like it I'm playing is Paladins (OW has long been uninstalled), and it lacks the PvZ charm we need in our lives. It could be and should be amazing but it keeps tripping on its own feet.

I know how to do it...load the pic... works fine... but the button is off screen... anybody know why that is?
@asabaida I had that yesterday too, had to mess about with it to get it to work. Not sure if I actually solved it or not though.
The other day I managed to jiggle things about and see the button but was a pure fuddle to do... and anyway cant remember how I did it 😃

To my great relief, I no longer feel obligated to play this game. I was considering deleting it from my hard drive, but I will wait until I see what's coming for June. I put forward a great effort to enjoy the game the last two days, but the issues that bothered me were only exacerbated. I might take a break from gaming for a day or two, then look and see what might fill the quirky, family-friendly shooter void in my life.
I will continue to poke my head into the forums for some time. I'm involved in a few threads of interest, and am curious to see if they receive any official feedback. Spoiler alert: they won't. I appreciate the great dialogue here that helped me work this out.
@kapkarrotAgreed feels like the server connection is worse than ever, got kicked out of 10 games in less than 10 minutes yet the game still tells me I have 39 ping and I'm able to play ps3 gw1 better. Get your crap together popcap a ps3 version of your first game should not have more stable server connection than your new game in 2020 on a new system.
@kapkarrot sorry to hear that but also understand completely, it must be a relief in some ways for you...
I think many/most of us are feeling very frustrated at this point and the "oh well maybe next update will bring fixes and new interest" positivity is fading fast with every new "unfix" and whoopsie ...
and for me the concentration on Turf and BA only (so it seems/feels) while ignoring the long promised Phase 3 of Ops so desperately needed is starting to grind my gears somewhat... let alone all the other plethora of balancing and performance issues.
Ive hardly played since the new update and that is very unusual for me... possibly predicting my fast oncoming feeling about it all sadly.

@kapkarrot I can't blame you but hopefully things will improve for the better and soon. I'd love for them to pull a No Man's Sky and give us a massively improved product. Even TF2 isn't silly enough to fulfill the void leaving this game would create for me, OW is a hot mess that I don't miss at all, Paladins is decent but has a lot of the issues this game has in the first place, and Valorant looks absolutely awful, so this game needs to meet its massive potential before too many leave and won't come back.
I'm still enjoying it but it's still not to the level I enjoyed GW2, at least not yet. I will always insist they should have released the game a lot later after more testing and development, maybe not even in Founders right now yet!
More communication would help a lot too. I know we can't have the dev streams like we did for awhile, but more design decision posts, more info on why things are changed, and so on, would go a long, long way.
