Re: Error code CE-108255-1 on PlayStation

The game crashes every time, without fail, immediately after the title card fades away when first opening the game prior to accessing the main menu on my PS5. It is crashing with the error code CE-108255-1. I have been unable to get passed this opening sequence showing the game title. I have run through a plethora of troubleshooting strategies including: reinstalling the game (done 5+ times), clearing console cache+rebuilding database, factory resetting my console, factory reset with a clean install of the OS via safe mode and a USB device. I have also done some small changes in settings such as disabling HDCP, setting my preferred quality mode to both performance and quality, changing resolution/refresh rate, and different combinations of having these settings enabled/disabled. Finally, I tried opening the game from a temporary guest user, in this circumstance, I saw the legal agreements page pop up for a split second after the title card right before the game crashed. At the moment, the game is quite literally unplayable, and because I've technically opened the game, Sony's egregious return policy likely will not allow me to refund the game.

  • @B0ssManJ0sh I've the exact same problem. I literally made an account to report this issues. I spoke to an agent from Sony and they told me I couldn't get a refund either. It's completely unacceptable.

    @starkilller9371 Yup, I just spent an hour waiting/talking to a Sony rep for a refund. They can't offer one since I've downloaded and opened the game. But how were we supposed to know the game is broken without opening it? Hopefully a community manager will see this post, because it is absolutely ridiculous that I cannot even access the main menu of a product I have spent 70 dollars on.
  • Guys... not a single administrator has responded directly to our posts, not even to the post with actual photographic evidence. EA doesn't care. I'm at a loss for words.

    @starkilller9371 I want to be clear all of my other games work fine, it is ONLY Jedi survivor. Objectively they have sold us a broken product

    I think, if I'm being optimistic they probably don't want to give any sort of official statement until they have a fix for the problem but it doesn't change that the silence is frustrating. At this point I'd settle for even acknowledging that its a problem and that they're trying to fix it, y'know?

  • Being able to play even 15 minutes of the game would be preferable over the instant error screen I get during or shortly after the opening cinematic.

    @Avianartistic Here its the same. Bought the game and was overly hyped to play it. I only made it once through the Main-Menu. Saw the first cutscene for about 20 seconds and than it crashed. After that i never made it to the menu again...
    I mailed it to the support but they always gave me the same advice...clear database, cache, re-install the game...
    Its very frustrating to buy an expensive "AAA"-Game just to see a "Respawn-Logo"
    I'm just glad, that i'm not the only one with this Problem, if you know what i mean

    What have happened since then? - My game is doing exactly the same thing as yours… Did you find a solution to the problem, or have you just erased the game?

  • @madscoort I'm sorry to say that I had no luck on my end. So, I requested a refund because I got tired of waiting and being ignored.

    I might buy the game again in the future if I see things get better around here, but it's obvious that at least my current copy is completely busted and ruined.

    I was wondering whether this issue has anything to do with the type of PS5 (PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition), but I can't be sure. Does anyone else have the standard PS5 here?
