Re: Jedi survivor stuttering

Normally, my stuttering starts as I just open the game. Then it stutters a lot during optimization.IT stutters a lot during the main menu and cutscenes. The stuttering isnt much during the game but its still there.I downloaded a mod to try and reduce it and Sure it reduced the stuttering but, there was still a lot of it.I think it might be my ram because my ram is capped at 2600 and I want to upgrade to 32 gb 3200.Not sure tho so I cant say for certain its my Ram.

The opening of the game, and optimization is just the way the game is. Since launch through to Patch 8, it has not run smoothly for anybody that I am aware of.

Cutscenes seem to have a framecap, and may stutter.

The main menu may have some "traversal stutter" as it switches from the optimization, but it should not continue to stutter.

Given you are having trouble when sitting at the main menu, viewing the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, I would suspect the RAM.

    I have an 8-Core / 16 Thread, Zen 3, Ryzen 7 5800H (3.2GHz Base clock / 4.4GHz Boost), with 32GB of DDR4-3200, and an RX 6600M (8GB) GPU on a PCI-Express 3.0 x8 bus. I don't experience stuttering at the main menu.

My 8-Core CPU is not fully utilized, but it does frequently use 6-Cores, and occasionally drops to only 4-Cores. So it is not likely to be a significant deviation from your configuration. Given that the game was released for the PlayStation 5, where the RAM configuration is more direct and not so constrained by a 2600MHz bus, I would not be surprised if RAM was a source of performance problems on PC.

I have not tested a 16GB 2600MHz RAM configuration for comparison, so I cannot be certain either. I have seen the game use 24GB of RAM on my configuration.

Another suggestion might be to make sure that you have closed all background programs, run the game full screen, and do not Alt-Tab or use multiple monitors. Windows may reduce the available VRAM if it registers conditions where you might switch to a different application. Performance monitors and/or screen capture applications may introduce unexpected lag on weaker systems.

Some users have reported issues with USB devices like storage drives, or even interference on the wireless spectrum with regards to a Bluetooth controller.

  • Hey, I tried some other fixes I read online and it worked out for the most part. Some stutter here and there during gameplay/cutscenes and I think you may be right about the ram.I will plan on upgrading my ram sooner than later.I checked the AMD adrenaline software and it showed that my gpu was 7.3/8 which could also be a factor.however, I have experienced stuttering in other games but in other games it’s for a quick second so I am assuming it’s my ram.

This game is heavy, don't let me mislead you into thinking that more RAM will fix it.

However, it might improve the experience somewhat.

A GPU of 7.3/8 sounds reasonable, I was worried it would be below 7, such as somewhere around the 6GB of VRAM mark, with the rest being allocated to Windows.

Higher graphics presets such as High or Epic may result in excessive VRAM usage. I have experienced crashing on Epic, and others have reported 21GB of VRAM by itself.

I recommend keeping it on Medium, and turning off Ray Tracing.

I have experienced a crash when FSR was disabled, and so I do recommend keeping FSR2 set to Quality for stability, though, you may need to go lower if using a 1440p or 4k display.

  • I mean I’ve had other games with similar problems and I genuinely think it’s ram because my ram usuage is very excessive and I’m always at 7 gb without having a game open.Right now I have the texture quality on medium and everything else on high and it’s not doing too bad.
