Ewok footsteps should be heard better

If the Hunt mode becomes a regular game mode in time - and since people seem to like it, I think it's not a stretch -, some balance is needed, as funny as it sounds, the ewoks have too much advantage right now, even more so if we consider that the devs want to do something about the cave camping.

Ewoks see everything, and even have an ability to see through everything (minimap indicator), wisties pouches feel a bit OP, and even when you notice them, they are hard to hit and kill - and you don't really know if they are dead unless you were the one to shoot them, since there is no kill log. They have these bloody random traps, and of course, the one thing that matters the most, the high ground.

What I propose is the slight increase of the sounds of ewok footsteps, and the range from which their footsteps can be heard of. Also, showing the ewoks the exact place of extraction is also totally unfair, it would be much more challenging if whe had to actually notice and follow the shuttle's searchlight, and ambush the troopers.

It is totally ridiculous that 90% of the games, only two of us survive until the arrival of the shuttle, and all the ewoks are already there at the LZ, spamming wisties, when the game is still telling you to hold out for 50 sec. Since you don't even have regular health regen, wisties kill you instantly while trying to board - it is highly unlikely to survive the whole round with full health.

EDIT: Also, watch out that playing as an ewok will replace your Enforcer class Star Cards.

  • It's kind of true Ewoks do have an advantage but in fairness I think that's how it has to be. The onus is on the troopers to quickly find each other and hunker down working together and sticking together creating the advantage or it's game over for the troopers. If anything when you do find a team of troopers that do that and hunker down quickly in the caves it becomes too easy for the troopers and you will win every time with the Ewoks standing little chance until extraction where if there are enough troopers left they still stand little chance of stopping all of them anyway. Hence why I believe they would want to stop the cave camping. I do agree some tweaking would be beneficial if troopers cannot hunker down the cave as it would be very difficult otherwise. Perhaps making the Ewok screens slightly darker so troopers torches are slightly more blinding while they do not have their see everything ability active but also so they are more easily able to track the light from distance. With that as you say the Ewoks could then track the light on the transport rather than having a blatant marker would make it more interesting. Perhaps the first Ewoks receive a marker and then the rest have to follow their leaders receiving a marker for the lead Ewoks. They would still be free to track the transport light or the troopers. Another idea is to put a slight time delay on boarding the transport having the troopers needing to activate the extraction like an objective on GA.
  • Ewoks' footsteps can be heard quite well. Besides the footsteps, you can hear them talking, spinning the pouch and the horns. Traps are not random, they are on the same spots. Ewoks can be beaten by melee of stormtroopers in two or three hits unable to fight back, they can be burned and shot very quickly. The shuttle pick up location is not shown, just the shuttle to follow. Ewoks have only advantage if stormtroopers are stupid campers in the cave. If you will play it smart, then you are outside, utilizing the environment, destroying traps while there are just two or three ewoks and shutting the flashlight to see the sparking eyes in the dark. Become the hunter, do not let yourself be hunted and drop this silly victim mentality.

And I'm sure you totally remember all the traps on the dark map. Give me a break.

The footsteps can only be heard well if you are alone, because the other troopers' footsteps are much louder - contrary to all the other game modes, where you can clearly tell whether it is a friendly or an enemy footstep, the latter being louder. I was not even suggesting that, only a slight increase. I'll drop the "silly victim mentality" when I'm not alone at the LZ against a server full of camping ewoks 80% of the time.

Also, the LZ is shown with a bigass REACH indicator.

  • The traps seem to be activated by trip wires that if you spot you can just jump over. Its true you can stay outside you are faster than the Ewoks so you can just keep moving and out run them for the most part but not when your entire team of troopers are now Ewoks to. I'm not sure what ridiculously poor team of Ewoks this guy has played against but your not getting near the transport on your own if the Ewoks are actually taking part in the game, run around all you like. Also I'm not sure that we are playing the same game if you think the cave camping is a disadvantage it actually makes the game boring is how easy it is when you have a team of cave campers. That takes the fun out of the game and for me that's the point. Staying outside with the Ewoks even ones that know what they are doing makes the game more interesting but it's unlikely that enough of your team will survive for you to be able to make it to the transport that's swimming in whisties. I don't think anyone here is playing the victim, I personally think it's too easy as a trooper and likewise I don't think @felker_s could be accused of similar as they are quite correct in their assessment of the the Ewoks significant advantage in the forest when in groups. Yes you can easily survive on your own but you have no chance of making it to the transport unless enough of your team have done likewise and there are at least a few of you so one makes it.
