@EA_AticHey man... the black screen on startup is back I don't know what do to do to get rid of it...
- @friendlyhuo Yep, been having the same issue. Pretty sure its because of the update that we just did.
its sad its the same for me ... at least i know im not the only one and the problem dont come from me 😛
- @EA_Atic Yup back for me as well, worked the day before the update, doesn't work after the update, just stuck on a black screen...
the same for me, the entire day, i tried everything, uninstall the game and origin with the Revo Uninstaller, i've tried too fix the game in the library and nothing, the problem keeps
- @EA_Atic HOLY * IT'S WORKING. I didn't do anything different just launched the game again and it worked, maybe the devs fixed it?
still broke for me, doubt theyd fix it yet, count yourself lucky
- @pinacallada1 wait is the update supposed to include BB-8 the sith troopers etc.? cause there are none of those in the game right now while I am playing
yeah the update is literally 1 map yet takes half a day to install and suicide bombs ur pc. Probably wont get a proper fix too, just have to keep trying all the different methods being posted all over the forums, bf2 is shoddy built, anything can break it, like discord for example. You can probably tell how salty it got me
To those who turning on and off the discord overlay and still having the black screen. Some might find this method effective also.
Go to documents > star wars battlefront 2 > settings > rclick BootOptions and edit with text editor.
Look for
GstRender.EnableDx12 0
Make the 0 to 1 then save then try to run the game
I have also this problem, I have already tried everything I've seen in the forums:
- Clear game and origin cache
- Reinstall Origin
- Reinstall game
- Start origin and the game as Administrator
- Make sure origin and discord overlays are off, also exiting Discord completely.
- Edit bootoptions to disable dx12 (when it is "0" it shows the black screen and after a while the game crashes)
- Edit bootoptions to enable dx12 (when it is "1" the start screen is not black, it shows the helmets, it loads shaders for a very long time at finally it crashes windows with a blue screen)
- I've made sure my Nvidia drivers are up to date, after that I installed the previous version of the drivers and I still have the same problem.
Nothing works so far. I've been playing since launch without seeing anything similar to this, the previous day to the update I played this game and it ran with normality.
I have two gaming computers, a desktop computer and a laptop, both have this problem.
same here, first time i launched the game i got issues, loaded on wrong screen, closed other applications, screwed up my discord, 10mins in call then switched to origins without me ever asking and unable to hear anyone. With 2nd screen it liked to tab me out for no reason or glitch the mouse so i can only click and not move, menu loading screen takes 10x longer than any multiplayer game so i want to just alt f4 instead of leaving normally, poor servers, not optimized and now updates break it. Yeah allot of times i want to play a star wars game then i remembered i should stuck with the old battlefront 2.
quite angry that theyll leave a broken game broken as long as it works for 51% of the players. And all this for a map and an edgy metal football@SIRCarlitoInigosadly i dont have the BootOptions in my folder.
Same problem, cant even start up the game.- @pinacallada1 I fixed it by going to the Game Properties in Origin and disable the Origin ingame Overlay
The rollies are coming in january
Hey cheers bro this worked for me, had to optimise shaders which took a while but at laest I can play now
Evening guys, came across these posts and was having the same issue. As weird as it sounds, my Discord Overlays were already turned off because of the funkiness with other games. I turned the Overlays on and the game doesn't boot to black screen, give it a go.
@friendlyhuo Yo check your Star Wars Battlefront 2 settings folder at C:\Users\yourname\Documents\STAR WARS Battlefront II\settings. I was having this issue and it turns out my settings folder was corrupted with some files missing and others unreadable. Replace the whole folder with the one @Eeeeechoone posted here https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Would-someone-mind-posting-their-Documents-SWBFII-settings/m-p/6430585/highlight/true#M1177 . You'll have to sit though a long first boot as it optimizes shaders but after that the game should run as normal.
And what if none of that works?
Really glad the game works now after that hot fix. I noticed in other peoples topics related to the black screen/freezing where they were still having the same issues after the fix. If that's the case for anyone, everybody who tried all the various possible workarounds to get the game to work should delete everything Battlefront 2 related from their computer. This includes everything in the documents folder (C:/users/documents). I personally waited not wanting to mess anything up, didn't even try the DX12 workaround, let the patch install and mine runs great with no problems every time. I hope this helps someone.
Here's my crappy laptop info 😳 :
*Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
*Intel i7-7500U CPU
*Nvidia GeForce 940MX 2 GB
*12 GB Ram
- @EA_Atic It's work (I just Open AMD GPU Overlay. Then I close it.)
