Switching to a display port cable actually fixed my issue.
maybe check your drivers? sometimes doing a clean install of gpu drivers does the trick.

Nope, switching didn't help for me, but fortunately, I found another solution. I'm posting it here in case others face the same problem and land on this thread.

Making a custom resolution in Nvidia Control Panel worked for me. I had been scouring fixes for weeks and nothing worked until this!
