Re: Sims 4 window freezing and minimizing, will not properly launch game.

@sunshinemeg97  Please try disabling Origin in-game: hover over your username, select Application Settings, then the Origin in-game header, and disable the option at the top.  If that doesn't help, make sure Discord is closed—check the Task Manager's background processes list—as well.

If you get another crash, please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet; just see whether you can get far enough to start a new save.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Once you remove the file to your desktop, and if it does open, is there a way to retrieve your save files or settings?

@Ravenfire39  Your old user data is intact in the folder you moved, so yes, you can retrieve it.  Saves are in the saves folder, saved households and builds in the Tray folder, and in-game settings are stored in the Options.ini file.  You may want to preserve Screenshots and Recorded Videos too, but the rest should be discarded.  The exception is the Mods folder, but make sure to test any mods or custom content you want to keep, a few files at a time, rather than moving it all back at once.
