@oncesweetcrazy Have you patched this week? The Eco Lifestyle patch contained an inventory overhaul, so this issue may or may not still exist for you.
If it's still happening, please test in a new save in a clean user data folder. Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Don't add anything to it yet; just start a new save, put some stuff in the sim's inventory, and travel.
If it works, you can copy your existing save into the new folder (saves are located in the saves folder, unsurprisingly) and test again. But don't add anything else to the folder. Let me know whether the inventory clears again.
I'm also curious if there's a pattern to what disappears. There was one bug months ago with produce disappearing, but that was fixed. I've heard that the game doesn't seem to retain certain items created with a Copypasto spell (and perhaps other similar items), but I'm not sure that's widespread. So if you haven't noticed any patterns, it would be useful to test with just one type of item at a time.
