New pc does not mean powerful enough pc. Check your system info and device manager. Make sure your graphics card is capable. Make sure you have enough room on your pc. Really would have to know more details to even guess. You can also go into your control panel and open up windows tools. Go into event viewer and look through Windows Logs and Application and Services Logs. This is generally how I can get some idea of what is happening when all else fails. Most stuff will make no sense but if you know what time you tried to load the sims, you can check the logs and hopefully find a clue. Don't let all the stuff in there dissuade you. Mainly focus on Windows logs/Applications and Applications and Service logs/Hardware events. Generally you should be able to find something and then go from there.

So you mention EA app and Steam. If you own the game through Steam I would think you would only be launching the Steam app and if having problems research if from there. If you own the game through EA then you would only use the EA app. To my knowledge you cannot combine the two. That is all I have with what information you gave.

I bought everything through steam but when I would load the game, EA would always pop back up. Figured it would be a EA issue. The game will start the little load screen then it goes to running then back to the play button. I've looked online and did everything that was said. Uninstalled / reinstalled steam, restarted computer, uninstalled / installed the game and nothing. I have never had this issue in the 4 years I've had the game. Maybe steam support would help?

Update: Tried going to contact steam and they said to contact EA so...here I am again lol

  • I run the game through steam and have one DLC in steam that I got free from buying Sims 2 Legacy on Steam and most of my DLC I have bought on the EA app. I usually launch the game either from the Steam app or the desktop shortcut Steam created and it works fine.  When I had issues with Sims 4 in the past I reinstalled Windows and uninstalled OneDrive and it helped.

I play every day, I don't have any mods or cc. Today after a few minutes of playing it throws me to the EA application. I have all the necessary updates. I don't know where this problem comes from.

Check the logs  for your system in event viewer that you can find in Windows Tools. There should be an event there for the crash. Most of it won't make any sense to most of us so just look for anything that says Sims, EA or Steam. If you can find an error or exception then copy and search it. That is what I do and I always bet that I am not the first one to have the problem so it's usually helpful to find answers. Make sure you have enough free space on your hard drive for the game to run. If you don't it could cause something like this to happen. I see it all the time with people and their cell phones. Stuff will just shut down if not enough room.

Another thing you might try too since it's minimal, is set your sims 4 to run as administrator. Also, temporarily, you might disable User Account Control settings or UAC. Control Panel/User Accounts/Change User Account Control settings.  I wouldn't think you'd need to do this but if running as admin doesn't help it could be worth a test. If you do, I'd uninstall sims, turn off your Antivirus and then reinstall. Then try to run everything and see what happens. Just don't forget to turn UAC back on as it does serve a purpose. I really think you will find the answer in the logs though.

  • Omg_its_Tayyyy AdielisXp  If you still need help, try removing the saves folder from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  If this fixes the issue, you're likely seeing this:

Crashes on Mainmenu | EA Forums - 12139111

atu27  If you still need help, please let me know whether this happens in a new save as well.  If the new save is fine, try a different household within the same save.  You don't need to save your progress; this is just for testing.

If the new save is affected too, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
