Households and Lots in My Library are NOT loading

I moved my game and saves from a PC Laptop to a PC Desktop today. I made sure to move all of the files from the Documents\Electronic Arts\folder and while my saves are all still there to load when I go to the Gallery and click on my Library none of the households or lots that I saved off of the gallery or that I created and moved to My Library are there.

I'm not sure if there is anyone to get them back because I did move all of the files and I'm pretty sure there is nothing left on my laptop.

Any tips or thoughts are appreciated

  • Your response prompted me to take another look at my files both on my laptop and my desktop. Apparently I only transferred over my saves to the desktop. If you are like me and have a lot of builds/sims that you would never want to share publicly but you still want to keep transferring over this data is important.

Note: This is only for Windows and only after you have made sure that nothing is being saved to the OneDrive

C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\ - This is were all of your saves are and where you would put a mods or CC folder.

    • "saves" - this are all the saves that show up when you are in the main menu and select Load Game
    • "Tray" - All of the builds, sims, or rooms that you may have saved to the "My Library" tab in the Gallery
    • "Screenshot" - the screenshots you took using any in game image capturing
    • "Recorded Videos" - If you've recorded anything within the game the videos show up here

Whenever I have to move my game file to a new computer I am just going to compress and save "The Sims 4" folder first. That way I don't leave anything behind.

Check your Onedrive. Mine hijacked my documents folder and it took me a bit to sort out what was going on. I only figured it out thanks to wanting to use a mod. So right now I have to go to Windows/Users/MyAccountName/Onedrive/Documents/Electronic Arts to find my Sims 4 folder.

I tend to use a local sign in on Windows as I don't want to sign into Windows with my microsoft account. Because if you lose your microsoft account somehow, there goes your pc too. They don't tell you that. But Windows is also good these days at trying to trick me into signing in. I think I did at some point and then decided it was a bad idea and changed back to a local account, not realizing the Onedrive had done all this. So yeah, I gotta get my stuff moved at some point. Not sure if this will help you but it can't hurt to check.

Thanks for sharing! I hate that Windows makes us sign in as well, which is why I made sure to make a local account on my laptop and now my desktop.

They are even more tricky now. I had to make a microsoft account to start windows on my new desktop. Once I did that I then went in and created my local accounts before I started installing everything. Which is a good thing because I really did already forget what my password was for my microsoft account. I know the PIN thankfully but I'm going to have to reset the password so if I need to reinstall windows or something I will be able to. These computers are so tricky.

I am glad you looked again and figured it out and can get all of your stuff safe and sound. I do not keep anything on my computer other than game and application installations. I use external hard drives to keep multiple backups of my files, photos and game saves and it is disconnected when I don't need anything from it. I got a new computer about a year ago and life got crazy so I haven't backed up my games like I should have. Now I am going to get it done. I definitely recommend doing this to everyone because it gives such peace of mind when it comes to everything that you hold dear that is on your computer. Wishing you the best!!
