Re: Household completely gone on sims 4

@megan_xoxox  I take it you moved the Sims 4 user data folder (the one normally in Documents\Electronic Arts) to your USB drive?  If so, that's why your save is missing: the game won't read the folder while it's on the USB.  Sims 4 will always look for its user data folder in Documents\Electronic Arts, and if it doesn't find one, it will create a new one.

To get your save back, go into the Saves folder inside the Sims 4 folder on your USB, highlight all the files inside, right-click and select Copy; then go into Documents\Electroinc Arts\The Sims 4\saves, right-click in the blank space, and select Paste.  (It's better to copy and paste, rather than drag and drop, so you have backup copies of your saves in case you need them later.)  Load the game and see whether your saves show up again.

I just tried this, it won’t let me paste them back into the original folder because there’s already files in there with the same names, if I paste them it just replaces all of the old files so I can’t have backups I just get put back to square one again ☹️

I started off with no load game at all, I managed to get the load game back by copying my folder into my usb drive because I read another post saying it’ll help, it brought back all of my little households apart from my main one which is the one I first ever even made, the house hold isn’t on the load game menu, the house has random sims in it now and it’s like they never even existed in the game😭 it’s the only household I actually properly played since it was so big and now it’s just disappeared for no reason, if I can’t get it back then I’m just going to give up playing because putting all that effort in for the game to just delete everything is annoying ☹️

@megan_xoxox  It's better to move the  Sims 4 folder back to your USB, or somewhere else, so it's out of the way; let the game spawn a clean folder again; and then copy the saves to the new folder.  This is the approach most likely to allow your save to load.

If you can't load the save you want this way, try restoring a backup copy of it instead.  Use the manual method here:
