Changing the game from one drive to another

Hello!

I don't really know how to explain this in a way that makes much sense, I'm trying to put my game onto a different hard drive with mods, but the game doesn't connect/ scan any of the mods that are on the same hard drive. I've moved the documents file where the Electronic Arts is located as well as redownloaded steam and sims 4 on that hard drive. Some theories I think it might be that my electronic art isn't actually downloaded on that drive, but I don't know how to make it actually download onto that drive. I tried turning on custom content in the game settings, but it just says it's already on and that there's no cc I have downloaded.

Some additional info is that it doesn't have anything to do with the mods. They are all relatively new and match the current patch the game is in. I know this because I downloaded it like 6 hrs. ago and it hasn't updated at all today, I don't think...

Please feel free to ask for attachments as I don't know what I would add :>

  • MakaylahSlothy  Please find the location of the folder the game is actually reading.  Here's how:

If you don't want to use that location, you'll need to create a symbolic link to tell the game where to look.  Here's how to do it:

Feel free to ask for further help with the process.  But in that case, please list the full path to the folder Sims 4 is currently reading as well as the exact location you want it to read instead.

  • puzzlezaddict Hiii!! I've recently tried doing this process again but with an external hard drive this time and for some reason it shows up that something in the documents cannot be moved?? I've made sure the steam library is in the hard drive and I've updated/redownloaded the game multiple times in the drive, but it doesn't seem to work??

What the thing says " Can't move the folder because there is a folder in the same location that can't be redirected. Access is denied." I really don't know what can't be moved

I have been having the same issues, bought external hard drive for all the cc and mods and it keeps saving to my computers hard drive.. tried the symlink and tried in the documents properties. so any time i want to play i have to move my entire mods folder to the sims folder on my computers hard drive

  • MakaylahSlothy  Is OneDrive running on your computer?  That might be the issue here.  And just to be clear, you should never move the entire Documents directory to an external drive.  That's what the symbolic link is for.

If that doesn't help, please post a screenshot of the Command Prompt window showing the command and the error.
