Re: The Sims 4 crashing after 6/6/24 update

@Sbcider  Your dxdiag lists crashes of Dell's Alienware Command Center and a component of Killer's networking software, but nothing from Sims 4.  So please try playing with ACC shut down in the Task Manager (make sure it doesn't restart itself; if it does, uninstall it entirely, temporarily), and while your computer is offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

I realize neither of these is an ideal workaround, but they're useful tests.  If Sims 4 still crashes, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to launch Sims 4.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

It appears to be my over clocking that's causing the crash! Does this say exactly what component is crashing or should I just turn of OC all together?

@puzzlezaddict I turned off OC in Command Center and I completely uninstalled Killer. I don't know what it is but I got rid of it anyway. Now I'll test the game for a while and get back to you.

@puzzlezaddict Wow, okay so my game isn't crashing anymore. So far it's running great! I even added my old mods and Graphics Rules setters. Thank you so much for pin pointing the problem for me! I appreciate it immensely!
  • What did you do? My game keeps crashing. I can open it up and play, but after 1 minute it crashes.

@Brienna0011  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
