- Press Windows-Key + R
- Type: DxDiag
- Click on Save all Information.
- Attach the Text File to your post the file should be attached to this reply. im not actually sure what the DxDiag is, so in your reply are you able to tell me what information it has in it?
@pphhiiiaaa A dxdiag is a sort of system report: device drivers, errors, some hardware info. It's not totally comprehensive, but a more thorough report like an msinfo would also include personal or potentially compromising information. So a dxdiag is an excellent place to start when troubleshooting.
Do you use Reshade, GShade, or any other utility that changes how Sims 4 looks? If so, please remove it, at least for now, and repair the game (again).
Either way, please also run a couple of basic checks on your Windows system files—your dxdiag shows a number of generic Windows errors.
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
Reading your thread, I'm also unclear as to whether refreshing the Sims 4 folder tempoarily helped this time around, as in, did the problem disappear briefly before returing, or was it always present? Additionally, just to be clear, does this only happen in apartments in San Myshuno, or does it happen elsewhere in the world, or in other worlds? Please test if you haven't already; you don't need to save your progress.
sorry for not clarifying better! so basically this glitch has happened before and renaming my file worked that time. the issue happened again and i renamed it like i did last time. the renaming function worked but not for the glitch. i did it again after removing all mods and it didnt work. sorry for the roundabout explanation but yes after a whole the problem arose again.
after i repaired it said Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
sorry i have an edit. i checked the other apartments and this is only a problem in san myshuno
@pphhiiiaaa Your original post was reasonably clear, but I wanted to make absolutely sure I understood before I potentially wasted your time with unhelpful troubleshooting steps.
For the issue itself, please try playing in a clean boot:
The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run. Disable the rest as described.
When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled. If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.
Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.
If that doesn't help, I'd like to compare the installed drivers in your dxdiag against those HP offers for your laptop. Go here:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops
Enter your laptop's serial number, choose your OS (just Windows 11 is fine) if prompted, and you'll land on the driver download page for your laptop. Please link it here. That page doesn't contain any personal information or data about your own computer, just the overall model. But HP makes it difficult to find the correct driver download page without the laptop's serial number, and I don't want to inadvertantly use the wrong page and therefore link you an incompatible download.
unfortunately the first one didnt work ughh
so here's the page : https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-laptop-pc-15-eg2000/2101006330/model/2101006342?sku=4U8D2AV&serialnumber=5CD30428D4
@pphhiiiaaa Your laptop actually has a newer graphics driver installed than what HP offers. That might be fine in theory, but this is clearly a graphics-related issue. So it's worth doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:
Use the Intel driver under Driver-Graphics on the page you linked. Let me know whether you still see the issue after installing the driver and restarting your computer.
unfortunately i do 😭. im almost 100% positive it did it right
@pphhiiiaaa I'm not sure what's going on here, unfortunately. Does this problem happen in both fullscreen and windowed modes? Please test now even if you did previously—it's important to retest after reinstalling the graphics driver—and let me know. To be thorough, switch modes, then quit to desktop and reload the game before testing.
If you see the issue in both fullscreen and windowed modes, please try both again, this time in a clean boot, as before.
omg i didn't even think about that. setting it to windowed full-screen got rid of it. sorry this was such a long process for such a simple thing but thank you so much for your help through all of it ❤️
@pphhiiiaaa I'm glad it worked out. And to be honest, I didn't suggest windowed mode before because it's not a proper fix—this problem shouldn't happen in fullscreen mode either, so I wanted to fix the overall issue rather than simply hiding it. But since that didn't happen, the workaround of using windowed fullscreen is a reasonable alternative.
