How to repair my game when using both Steam and ea app?

Hi,

most of my dlc is on ea app but since I have one item on steam I'm forced to launch through steam. I managed to repair the dlc I have on steam (I think it's called "verify integrity of game files") and that was quick.

But here's big the problem: how do I repair the rest of the packs? There's no option to do so on the EA app and also there's no option to do so on steam since I don't have those packs licensed there anyways.

I didn't find a thread specifically for this issue and I'm sure other people would find it useful too so I posted this as a new question.

I appreciate any help, thank you in advance!

  • @siirysiir  There's no way to repair only your EA-installed packs when you've installed through Steam, at least not at present.  If you have the need to repair a single pack, I'd suggest deleting its folder and reinstalling it.  Here's how to find the folder name:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/extras-2/available-packs-dlc/

You only need to worry about the folders directly inside [install location]\The Sims 4.  The ones inside Delta are repaired at the same time as the base game, whether the corresponding packs are installed through Steam, the EA App, or not at all.

    Thank you so much @puzzlezaddict ! ❤️

I was afraid this might be the answer. Well, I'm still glad I got the answer!

So to sum it up, if anyone else is wondering..

It is not possible to repair packs bought through EA App if you play the game on Steam. Only packs owned through Steam can be repaired. Packs from ea app will have to be manually removed and then redownloaded. 🤡

  • Ok so how do I manually remove them then?

I've got the same issue so thanks for asking!

The packs I bought from EA are in my delta file but it's like they're stuck there.

@829pinkgirl  The Delta folder contains data from patches, not the packs themselves.  As in, a new pack when first released only creates a folder directly inside "The Sims 4," but once EA patches a problem with that pack, that patch data goes into Delta.  Point is, ignore the Delta folders and focus on the folders inside the Sims 4 folder.

Repairing the game will restore everything in Delta since it's technically part of the base game data.

If you want to remove those, first make sure Steam and the EA App are closed and neither one has left anything running in the Task Manager's background processes list.  You should simply be able to trash the folders.
