The new-gen consoles are backward compatible so I would assume you could Apex Legends download from the beginning.

There will be no cross-progression when the crossplay so you will still on a fresh account.

Apex Legends will also have crossplay on the new-gen consoles as this update is just a global update form all platforms.

@Zeelmaekers I hope you are wrong about the cross progression from console upgrade. A ps5 user will have the exact same user info from their ps4. Other games allow a one time transfer. There is no reason this should not be an Apex thing too.

I would assume the progress is saved on the same platform so if you just upgrade your account would be the same but they already confirmed that there won't be a cross-progression.

@Zeelmaekers There won't be a cross progression but I'm sure that does not mean they will allow a one time progress transfer from PlayStation 4-PlayStation 5/Xbox One to Xbox Series X.

But the consoles are backwards compatible so it's most likely the progress will automatically transfer.
